CAMERON ST DETOUR UPDATE: The Cameron Street route between Sycamore Street and Shanois Street is now REOPEN!

The new sidewalk is complete, the formwork and tape have been removed, and the street has been repaved. Greenbelt users can once again follow the route along Cameron Street, and the temporary detour through the Pathways/Dauphin County parking lot is no longer needed.

And a great reminder of why these connections matter: while we were taking down one of the parking lot detour signs, a rider passing through stopped to tell us how much they value the Greenbelt as part of their work commute from Enola to Steelton.

Whether you use the Greenbelt for recreation, exercise, or simply getting where you need to go, we’re glad to have this section back open.

A strong day of stewardship on the Capital Area Greenbelt.

Twenty Subie Crew volunteers, formerly known as Subaru Ambassadors, collected 100 pounds of trash from the adopted Greenbelt section sponsored by Faulkner Subaru Harrisburg. This cleanup is part of a monthly, year-round effort to help keep the trail clean and welcoming for everyone who uses it.

We’re also excited to share that Faulkner Subaru Harrisburg has committed to serving as a Gold Sponsor for the 2027 Tour de Belt.

A huge thank you to Doug Jones, President, and the entire Faulkner Subaru Harrisburg team for their continued commitment to our mission and to the Greenbelt community.

On Saturday we'll be focused on the Lochiel Parkway. Tasks will include collecting litter, trimming back things that are growing over the trail, clearing areas of large weeds and small trees, especially alanthus, and cutting vines from trees.

Meet at CAGA's equipment shed at 1600 S. Cameron St. at 9:00am. Tools will be provided or bring your own loppers, pruners, gloves, etc. if you prefer.

New closure around the lake, please ride the towpath detour carefully.

A section of Wildwood Way Trail will be closed 9/14/26 – 10/15/26, 7am-4pm, Monday through Friday. Hikers and bicyclists will need to turnaround at closure. This is the 25th anniversary of an American tragedy. We cannot forget - we will be riding in solidarity and attending a memorial ceremony at the 911 monument on the HACC campus.
Meet at Fort Hunter RIVER SIDE 8:00 AM for a 8:30 AM departure. We will ride on streets and path along the river. 10-11.5 mph for 11 miles with a stop at the State Capital, 7th to McClay, through Farm Show to Industrial Park Road and arrive at HACC for a 45 minute ceremony. Return to Fort Hunter for an additional 4 miles. Helmets are required, bring hydration and a snack. Always recommended to have an extra tube.
All bikes are welcome. Invite family and friends who might not ride to meet at the 911 Memorial on the HACC campus.

On Sunday, August 23, we gathered to celebrate the volunteers who make the Greenbelt—and our work—possible.
The Volunteer Picnic featured the Five Senses Gardens table, an update from Terracon on plans for the Paxtang Parkway, and remarks from CAGA President Doug Hill thanking our volunteers.
One of the afternoon’s most meaningful moments was a standing ovation for longtime Greenbelt revitalization leader Norm Lacasse.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered, participated and joined us in celebrating this remarkable community. The Greenbelt thrives because of you!

Greenbelt users: S. Paxtang Ave between Paxton St and Derry St will close on Monday, August 24, for water line work. The trail will remain open during the road closure, according to a Veolia representative. The work is expected to be completed within about a week.
