We are heartbroken by the loss of two Allan Myers employees killed in a Chester County work zone this week, and our thoughts are with the two others who were injured. This loss is felt deeply across our association and the entire industry. Our deepest condolences go to their families, friends, and everyone at Allan Myers.

They came to work to make Pennsylvania's roads safer for all of us — and paid an unthinkable price.

Please — slow down, put the phone down, and respect every work zone.

Thank you for your care and concern regarding the recent incident on Route 30 near Coatesville, PA.

Two of our Allan Myers family tragically lost their lives when a tractor-trailer entered our work zone, striking multiple vehicles. Two additional colleagues were transported to a local hospital and released.

An investigation is ongoing. Our focus remains on supporting those impacted.

We ask that you please join us in prayer for their families, friends, and colleagues.

A gas tax holiday sounds like relief, but the math doesn't add up. Market fluctuations and supply chain factors often wipe out much of the tax cut saving at the pump. Meanwhile, road and bridge needs don't disappear — they just go unfunded, putting the traveling public's safety at risk. And deferred maintenance is never free; costs only grow as infrastructure deteriorates. Pennsylvania can't afford short-term politics over long-term investment.

On this day, 120 years ago, the Market Street Bridge was dedicated in a 4 p.m. ceremony hosted by the Civic Club of Harrisburg (pictured here). Lauded at the time as the "only formal city entrance in this country," the two columns from the old Capitol Building flanked the abutment in "the happiest choice," an homage to the river being the "ancient 'highway' of Harrisburg." Speaker Lyman Gilbert of the Civic Club praised "the duties of citizenship, upon which the welfare of this city must always depend." We think those duties are just as important today as they were then.
