We finished the 2025–2026 school year at Broadneck Elementary School. All four classes of 2nd graders enjoyed learning about Maryland critters and their unique and amazing adaptations.

Ms. Jen & Ms. Cathy had a wonderful time with these very curious and engaged students! It was so fun to hear the classes share their experiences on the local waterways and connect those experiences to what they were learning.

Ms Jen & Ms. Cathy had a wonderful time presenting "Curious Crabs" to all five kindergarten classes at Point Pleasant ES. The students were so eager to learn about blue crabs, and it was a fantastic way to wrap up the school year. We wish these rising first graders a wonderful summer!

It's so fun for our team to visit new schools! Back in April while hiking at Patapsco, CSH2O's Secretary/Treasurer, Sandy & volunteer extraordinaire, Karen, ran into Aundel MS 6th grade teacher Ms. Thomas-Barton during their field trip. That led to Ms. Jen, Mr. Bryan & Ms. Karen visiting Ms. Thomas-Barton's four 6th grade classes in May.

The 6th graders were so engaged in our "Who Polluted the Chesapeake? & Oyster 101" program. We're so glad that we could visit this "new-to-us" school before wrapping up the '25-'26 school year! Thank you, Ms. Thomas-Barton for having us!

Mr. Bryan returned to Back Creek in Eastport to kick off the 2026 𝑭𝒖𝒍𝒍 𝑴𝒐𝒐𝒏 𝑷𝒂𝒅𝒅𝒍𝒆𝒔 with Capital SUPn Annapolis.

We had a good weather and a good turnout and we had a very rare 𝗕𝗟𝗨𝗘 𝗠𝗢𝗢𝗡. Why is it called a blue moon? It is called that when you have 2 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘮𝘰𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 1 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘩. That is what happened in May of this year.

The paddlers learned a lot about the local environment and birds and we ended the evening with a primal call to the moon (check out below). We hope to you all at the end of June for our next FMP with Capital SUP on 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟴 in the heart of Eastport!

Mr. Bryan and Ms. Jen returned to Oak Hill Elementary to present 𝑾𝒉𝒐 𝑷𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒂𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑶𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝟏𝟎𝟏 to the 5th grade classes.

The students were very knowledgeable about our Chesapeake Bay and the importance of oysters in our local waterways. The students learned a lot about the 𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙧𝙪𝙣 𝙤𝙛𝙛 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙚𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙣 𝙤𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 inside that protective shell. Uncle Bryan thanks his niece for not embarrassing him ... and he returned the favor! 😁

All 5 Kindergarten classes at Folger McKinsey participated in our "Curious Crabs" program. Mr. Bryan, Ms. Cathy & Ms. Jen had a blast with these bright and fun students! The kindergartners loved connecting the program's content to their own experiences on local waterways. Thank you, Folger Owls for having us and for your generous donation and support of CoreShark H2O!

Mr. Bryan and Ms. Karen visited Germantown Elementary School to present Who Polluted the Chesapeake and Oyster 101 to the 4th grade classes. The students were knowledgeable about the Chesapeake Bay and the animals that live around our waterway. The students also saw what animals live in and around an oyster reef and alos had the opportunity to touch a live oyster at the conclusion of class. Thanks Germantown Elementary School!

Mr. Bryan, Ms. Jen, and Ms. Karen returned to Brooklyn Park Middle School to present Who Polluted the Chesapeake and Oyster 101 to all the 6th grade classes.

The students were very excited to learn about oysters and the critical issues affecting their population in our local waterways. The students saw what animals live in and around a live oyster reef, viewed many artifacts related to oysters in our Bay, and ended the class by touching a freshly shucked oyster!

Ms. Jen & Mr. Bryan presented "The Chesapeake Bay & Climate Change" to an eager and interested group of adults at the 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 as part of their Adult Bay Awareness Series. It was wonderful to see the participants at the library engage so deeply while learning about climate change and its impact on our local waterways.

Additionally, Lauren Gygax from the Chesapeake Climate Action Network attended and shared the work that the CCAN does in AACo and Maryland. The library staff also displayed informative books related to the topic; visit your local AACPL branch to check them out.

We truly value these collaborations, as adult education provides a unique and vital opportunity for meaningful community connections. 🌍 Programs like these strengthen our shared mission and reach a wider audience.

𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 2026 𝐶𝑆𝐻2𝑂 𝑠𝑐ℎ𝑜𝑙𝑎𝑟𝑠ℎ𝑖𝑝 𝑤𝑖𝑛𝑛𝑒𝑟 𝑹𝒖𝒃𝒚 𝑫𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒚!

Ruby is a senior at Broadneck High School and will attend the University of Rhode Island in the fall. Through BHS's signature Environmental Literacy program, Ruby has had incredible opportunities to hone her environmental prowess. From securing funding to get and maintain a beehive, to founding and serving as president of her high school's Surfrider Foundation club, to being awarded the appropriately named Dolphin Award from her swim club for demonstrating leadership, 𝗥𝘂𝗯𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗦𝗛𝟮𝗢'𝘀 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽!

We are proud to back Ruby in her future environmental studies at URI and can't wait to see what she does with this opportunity.
