Crossing the Rubikhan

Crossing the Rubikhan This summer, three friends will drive 10,000 miles from England to Mongolia on a quest to raise money for two charities. www.crossingtherubikhan.com

The Mongol Rally is a 10,000-mile overland excursion from England to Mongolia. Each team participating in the rally must raise at least £1,000 for charity. As soon-to-be-graduates, Nick, Benjie, and Cooper view the rally as the perfect opportunity to do something utterly absurd before growing up and getting jobs (assuming they return home intact). They aim to complete the rally in approximately si

x weeks, and are eager to share their adventure with you along the way. Learn more about the Mongol Rally, and donate to the Cool Earth Foundation and SOS Children's Villages, at www.crossingtherubikhan.com.

A little video on how our generous satellite communications sponsor Roadpost Inc. helped us stay connected in the middle of nowhere out in the Mongolian steppe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBIFxKXY-Ps&list=UUSr4Kkla_SErgyiaXRGOXGA

See how team Crossing the Rubikhan used their Iridium rental kit from Roadpost to stay connected to the world in the middle of Mongolia.

The final installment in our travelogue is now on the blog. We hope you enjoyed following along. Thanks for all your support along the way! http://crossingtherubikhan.com/mongolia-part-ii/

Benjie here, resuming our Mongolian narrative from the middle of the interminably long valley between Khovd and Altai that essentialized our fourth day in the country. This may have been the most frustrating stretch of our drive through Mongolia: the landscape was flat and repetitive, offering no di…

Part I of our Mongolia chronicle is finally up on the blog: http://crossingtherubikhan.com/mongolia-part-i/

We’ve decided to split this country into two party-sized posts (as opposed to one king-sized post, since our traversal of Mongolia was the culminating stage of our long journey (and because we have way too many photos for just one post). This is Part I; Part II will be posted tomorrow. We’re just tr…

Well, we've made it to Ulaanbaatar intact! A detailed report and some photos from our final sprint (err, crawl) across Mongolia will be up on the blog shortly.

Hello from the Siberian plain! Nick here. We’ve made it to Barnaul, Russia, having successfully navigated the famous Kyrgyz peaks and the infamous Kazakh steppe. Since it’s been a while since we’ve treated you to a full update (Tashkent methinks), let’s backtrack a bit to fill you in. Unfortunately,…
