The League of Women Voters expresses concern regarding the recently passed reconciliation package, raising concerns regarding expanded funding for immigration enforcement without sufficient oversight and accountability measures. The League warns measures of this scale could have far-reaching negative consequences related to due process, constitutional rights, and civil liberties.

Public meetings are one way Hoosiers can stay informed about issues affecting their communities and learn more about how state government works.

The Indiana Rare Diseases Advisory Council will meet on Thursday, June 5, from 3:00–5:00 p.m. The council advises state leaders on issues impacting individuals and families affected by rare diseases, including access to care, treatment, and resources.

Our last cafe night was a discussion on the importance of school boards. Glenn Johnson, Indiana School Board Association, Region 2 Director and Carlotta Blake King, Hammond School Board President were our speakers. Carlotta explained the functions of the school board and their many responsibilities.
Glenn Johnson gave us a higher level insight into state and local challenges.
