There are still turtles left for adoption!

The Turtle Race supporting SAFE is THIS WEEKEND, and there’s still time to get involved. Every turtle adopted helps support survivors of domestic violence right here in our community.

If you’ve been meaning to participate, now is the time! Let’s finish strong before race day.

Faces of Fierce Compassion: Meet the Staff
✨ Ievy ~ Office Manager & Head of Housekeeping

Ievy wears more than one hat here at SAFE: part office manager, part head of housekeeping, and all heart. She splits her time between keeping the office running and caring for every room in our shelter and office, making sure each space stays clean, comfortable, and welcoming. For the families who walk through our doors, that matters more than words can say. A calm, cared-for space is often the first thing that helps someone feel safe again.

She has a rare ability to make others feel seen, like whatever they're carrying, they don't have to carry it alone. Whether she's juggling the day's hundred small details, welcoming someone in on their hardest day, or quietly making a room feel like a refuge, Ievy shows up with steady kindness.

Favorite Quote: Matthew 7:14 - "But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."

When asked how she handles tough days, Ievy says: "Coffee, and knowing there is always a bigger plan than the hard part I'm going through."

We are deeply grateful for Ievy's heart, her dedication, and the care she pours into everything she touches, seen and unseen. She reminds us every day that compassion can be soft, fierce, and faithful all at once. 🌷💪💜

Wednesday Wins 🌱

Not everyone gets to see what happens behind the scenes at an emergency shelter, so we're changing that. Welcome to Wednesday Wins, where we share the moments that keep us going.

This week's win: our survivor garden is BACK.

A huge thank you to Evans Ace Hardware for making this possible with their generous donation, and to the community members who gave of their bounty and helped fill in the rest. Our staff and survivors took those donations and made something beautiful.

And the best part? The kids are THRILLED. Little hands in the dirt, seeds in the ground, watching things they planted grow.

This is what it looks like when a community invests in survivors. Thank you to everyone who gave. 💚

This little floof, our new office pup, has already mastered the feeling we hope everyone experiences when they walk through our doors: safe, warm, cared for, and finally able to rest. ✨🌙

A daily dose of dog therapy helps with some of the heavy work we do here.

A short break, a few soft wags, and the weight of the day shifts just a little. Pause, paws, balance restored. 🐾✨
