🍂 November is here! Please take a moment to review our updated November hours and upcoming schedule.

A few important dates to keep in mind:

November 11: Limited hours for Veterans Day (10 AM–4 PM).

November 18: Pool closed for a swim meet. The gym will remain open until 12 PM.

November 26–27: Community Center closed both Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving.

🏆 A Historic Achievement for Harris County Parks and Recreation! 🏆

We are incredibly proud to announce that Matthew OBrien has been named a 2026 Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) District 4 Award recipient!

This recognition is especially meaningful as Matthew has made history by becoming the first individual from Harris County to receive a GRPA award!

Matthew is a valued member of our Parks and Recreation team, and we are truly fortunate to have someone with his dedication, passion, and commitment to serving our community. His hard work and contributions continue to make a positive impact on our department and the citizens of Harris County.

This is not only a tremendous accomplishment for Matthew but also a proud moment for our entire department and community!

Please join us in congratulating Matthew O’Brien on this well-deserved honor! We couldn’t be prouder to have him representing Harris County Parks and Recreation!

For the safety and well-being of our community and staff, the Community Center, Solid Waste Transfer Station, Solid Waste Convenience Centers, and Animal Control will be closed on Saturday, October 10, 2026, due to the potential impacts of severe weather in our area.

The Solid Waste Convenience Centers will reopen, and all other facilities will resume their regular operating schedules on Sunday, October 11, 2026.

Severe weather conditions may include heavy rainfall, damaging winds with gusts up to 50 mph, the possibility of tornadoes, downed trees, and power outages.

We encourage everyone to remain weather-aware, monitor local weather updates, and take the necessary precautions to keep themselves and their families safe. Please avoid unnecessary travel during hazardous conditions and follow all guidance from local emergency management officials.

We appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we prioritize the safety of our community. Please stay safe and take care of one another!

The Harris County Community Center Pool will be temporarily closed Wednesday, September 30th and Thursday, October 1st from 8:30 AM–12:00 PM.

The pool will reopen at 12:00 PM on both days.

🏊 LIFEGUARD INTEREST FORM

We’re looking to train another class of lifeguards at the Harris County Community Center!

If you’re interested in becoming a lifeguard, please fill out the Google Form using the link provided on the flyer. Filling out the form does not commit you to the class; it helps us gauge interest and availability.
