This summer will be planting a bird habitat on the Leeder Hill side of Denicola Park as part of our broader healing garden initiative.

2026 HamdenFest was a blast 💥

Three big themes from our tent this year:

1: people are excited to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty volunteering with EGH at Denicola Park later this summer 🪏

2: the 3rd Annual EGH Makers Market on October 24th at Spring Glen Church is shaping up to be double the size and fun as last year if all goes to plan 🛍️

3: lots of familiar faces came by to get updates on our progress to create a healing garden for community members impacted by violence and chat about our plans for the $250k CIF grant 🚧

Did you know that sitting and listening to nature is one of the most requested features of our future healing garden when we talk to community members about what they want to see built?

Shoutout to Ketan Sandeep Camegna and his troop mates in Boy Scout Troop 610 Hamden who are hard at work on a special project for to bring that request to life 😎

Ketan is working to help EGH build trails, benches, and signage as part of a bird habitat being built on the Leeder Hill side of our future healing garden. This project is our first step forward in creating a healing space for the community.

Thanks to the Town of Hamden, Connecticut for allowing us to get started on this project at the park while the broader healing garden plans are being developed.

We are especially grateful to Ketan and the Scouts for removing 20 illegally dumped tires and a bunch of natural debris from the park. Great job! We can’t wait to see the finished project ✨

We are thrilled to bring back to Denicola Park this summer.

Our friends at will be joining us for a DOUBLE the fun workshop exploring summer plants that cool and color 🎨

Make new connections to common plants that can offer relief from the summer heat as well as creative practice through pigment.

Explore plants that help us take care of ourselves in the heat while making a cooling face mist to take home and use. We will also slow down and create a moment for ourselves through exploring color from some common plants and creating our own simple 'paints' to use in creative practice.

This event is FREE thanks to generous gift to EGH from individuals just like you - Donations welcomed.

You guys showed up this in a major way 💙

Thank you to everyone who was able to support during the 36-hr giving campaign. We exceeded our $5,000 goal 🎉

These funds will help us get started on major work this year advancing the healing garden initiative, while also supporting our Art in the Park events and youth engagement initiatives. As a grassroots nonprofit we will maximize the impact each of these dollars have helping our community heal from the impacts violence has on lives.
