Earlier this month, our Extended Day Treatment (EDT) program, in collaboration with Self Management and Recovery Training (SMART), hosted a back-to-school event for EDT students.

Participants received backpacks, notebooks, pencil cases, hygiene products, coloring books, fidgets, and planners. They also engaged in back-to-school-related activities, such as decorating pencil boxes, setting goals for the school year, and exploring how to be kind to one another. Plus, students got the opportunity to make tie-dye shirts and play yard games!

The World Cup was in full force at the Children's Center of Hamden! ⚽️

To celebrate, we held a World Cup party where students could celebrate fútbol (aka soccer) and learn about the cultures and countries represented in this year’s tournament.

It was a blast celebrating this unifying event with our students and staff!

Did you know: we have a garden on campus that our students tend? Earlier this summer, our students held a pop-up market to celebrate!

Students sold vegetables they had grown and arts and crafts they made for the occasion. It was a great opportunity to showcase their hard work and learn valuable business and interpersonal skills.

When Mikey first arrived at The Children’s Center’s Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF), he was scared.

He stayed close to his mom, avoided other children, and hadn't been to school in months.

By the time he completed the program, he was walking into school each day, making friends, and celebrating accomplishments he never imagined possible.

Every child has the capacity to grow when they're met with compassion, consistency, and the right support.

We're grateful to be part of journeys like Mikey's every day.
