At approximately 1435 HRS, units were dispatched in the area of Rosehill Avenue in Hagerstown for a reported building collapse. Crews are currently operating on scene assessing structural stability and mitigating hazards.

Please avoid the area and use alternate routes to allow emergency personnel to work safely.

Updates will be provided as information becomes available.

First responder crews are at a location in the 1000 block of Rose Hill Avenue in the City of Hagerstown for a reported collapse. Multiple occupants of the building are believed to be trapped due to the incident. Fire crews from ALL City of Hagerstown stations are being called to the area to help with the operation.

This year, 204 firefighters from 43 states who died in the line of duty will be honored in Emmitsburg during National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend. Running May 2-3, those actions remain in jeopardy as DHS' funding, who operate FEMA and the National Fire Academy, remains stalled in Congress.

Tuesday, Halfway crews assisted with a Trauma Patient that required to be flown to a Specialty Trauma Center. To expedite transport, a Landing Zone was established at the Valley Mall and patient was transported by Maryland Aviation Command's Trooper 3.

We regret to announce the passing of past Chief and lifetime member Ernie Truax. Ernie dedicated over 50 years to the Hancock Fire Company and the community. Ernie was as dedicated as they came. Ernie ran every call he could and helped with every fundraiser. Ernies dedication and commitment to the fire department never went unnoticed and will be greatly missed.
