Myth vs. Fact #1.....
Barbara Ingram School for the Arts is a PRIVATE High School and I will have to pay tuition for my student to attend.

This is a HUGE MYTH!!

We hear this one all the time! Barbara Ingram is NOT a private school. It is one of nine high schools in the Washington County Public Schools system.

Only students that reside outside of Washington County or in a different state will be charged yearly tuition to attend BISFA.

In case you haven't heard...Barbara Ingram School for the Arts - Vocal Music Department has been invited by Grammy-nominated conductor, Dr. James Jordan, to perform at the world-famous Carnegie Hall in New York City!

Students from BISFA will sing the U.S. Premiere of Paul Mealor's “Aberfan: Abiding Light” (recently commissioned by the BBC) at the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall , under the direction of Dr. James Jordan on Saturday, May 29, 2027. The performance will feature The New England Symphonic Ensemble as part of MidAmerica Productions’ 44th anniversary season.

Preparation for this landmark five-day trip will involve rigorous rehearsals, vocal masterclasses, and community fundraising initiatives. Students and faculty alike have expressed immense excitement about the honor to represent Hagerstown and the broader Maryland arts community on a national stage.

We are thrilled to share the names of the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts students who received the Pauline K. Anderson Student Grant award for September.

The Vocal Department students will utilize their grant funds for an upcoming performance trip to Carnegie Hall later this school year.

Additional grants were awarded to students for purchasing art supplies, pointe shoes, and covering college application fees.

The Theatre Department students will use their funds to offset the costs associated with participating in the Maryland Thespian Festival.

Congratulations to all! We look forward to seeing your new skills in action and hearing about your experiences!

Thank you to University System of Maryland at Hagerstown for hosting our Computer Game Design and Animation (CGDA) students SMH for a visit to their new Applied Computer Science lab and eSports arena! The students had a a great time using the new technology and touring the new facility!

🎮 Bringing Technology and Opportunity to Life at USMH! 🎮

On October 7, we welcomed TEDCO to USMH for a visit to our new Applied Computer Science lab and eSports arena!

Thanks to an Equitech grant awarded by TEDCO, matched by USMH, this space features state-of-the-art technology that supports hands-on learning and innovation. Students from Barbara Ingram School for the Arts (BISFA) joined us to demonstrate the lab’s potential, explore the eSports arena, and experience the technology firsthand.

This visit was an exciting opportunity to showcase how our new facilities can support future students while helping build a local pipeline of talent for Frostburg State University’s Applied Computer Science program, which will be held at USMH.

A big thank-you to TEDCO for investing in technology and educational opportunities in our community! 💙
