IT'S FUN DOG FRIDAY!!

🐾 Is Your Dog Right-Pawed or Left-Pawed? 🐶

Did you know dogs can have a paw preference, just like people have a dominant hand? ❤️

Some dogs prefer their right paw, others their left, and some are equally comfortable using both!

🐾 Want to find out which paw your pup prefers? Watch closely the next time your dog reaches for a toy, steps over something, or offers a paw. Notice which paw they use first, and keep track over several tries. You might discover your dog has a favorite!

While things may have been quiet on our page, U2SA has been BUSY behind the scenes! ❤️🐾

We’ve been coordinating vetting, transports, fosters, and adoptions to help 11 deserving dogs make their way out of West Virginia and into brighter futures — whether in foster homes, adopter homes, or with trusted rescue partners.

We couldn’t do this without an amazing team of people who care!

A HUGE thank-you to:

**City Dogs & City Kitties, for welcoming Asher, Kodi, Ruby, Ginger, and Tootsie and getting them settled into foster homes as they prepare for their forever homes.

**U2SA volunteers Carol and Jona, for traveling onsite to Cowen, WV, to work at Saving Webster Dogs and transport these dogs to Maryland.

**U2SA volunteer Mandy, for also making the trip to Cowen last weekend to bring back Guinness, Re*****on, and Clutch — and for opening her home to foster all three boys!

**U2SA foster Meg, for caring for Daisy while she waits for her adopters to be ready to welcome her home.

HALLELUJAH! SAWYER HAS HIS FOREVER HOME! ❤️

Some dogs wait far too long for someone to see what makes them special. Sawyer was one of those dogs. But when the right person finally came along, he made it ALL worth the wait!

Sawyer arrived at our partner rescue, Saving Webster Dogs, on January 2, 2026, along with a large group of hounds surrendered by hunters in Webster County, WV. He spent months enduring last winter’s harsh cold and this summer’s heat waves in an outdoor kennel.

At around 75 pounds, Sawyer was a big boy, and we knew that might make finding his person a little harder. With so many hounds competing for rescue attention, he was continually overlooked. Interest from adopters and other rescues? Virtually zero.

Until Hunter! ❤️

Hunter reached out to U2SA by email, phone, AND Messenger because he really wanted this dog. When our volunteers connected with him, his response was simple:

“That’s my dog.”
“I want that dog.”

Hallelujah! Hunter submitted his application, and within a week, thanks to our AMAZING behind-the-scenes team, he got his wish. Sawyer was going home!

Today, Sawyer — now Gunnar — is safe, loved to pieces, and spoiled rotten in his very own home. And he's already got a Saturday ritual with his new dad: a trip to the dump followed by Sheetz for 50-cent hotdogs! 🌭😂

Just look at that picture of Gunnar with an ENTIRE hotdog sticking out of his mouth! We have a feeling this boy isn't going to be missing a meal — or an adventure — anytime soon!

Gunnar, sweet boy, you waited a LONG time. But look at you now! A home of your own, a person who adores you, Saturday adventures, and hotdogs. We couldn't be happier that your story brought you exactly where you belong.

And Hunter, THANK YOU for choosing the big boy who had been waiting so patiently. Thank you for seeing him the way we've always seen him and giving him the life he deserved.

Happy Tails, Gunnar! May your days be filled with love, full bellies, Saturday adventures, and all the hotdogs a 75-pound boy can handle! ❤️

IT’S MEET THE DOGS MONDAY!

Some dogs are beautiful, some are sweet, and some are the whole package. Meet Spirit! ❤️

This gorgeous 80-pound girl has a stunning, shiny black coat, a beautiful face, and soulful eyes that will look right into your heart. We think she may be a Lab/Weimaraner mix, but whatever her recipe, she's made entirely of love!

Spirit arrived at our partner rescue, Saving Webster Dogs, in July, and here's what we've learned about this big girl with an even bigger heart:

• Dog-friendly and LOVES to play! Play bows, wrestling, and a good game of fetch are right up her alley.

• People-friendly and kid-friendly, too! She's playful and goofy without jumping up or knocking you over.

• Cat-tolerant. She pretty much ignores them!

• Adventure buddy extraordinaire! Daily walks, hikes, car rides (especially sh***un!), and time playing with a canine friend would make her day. She's got moderate energy and would love an active companion.

• Toy lover, treat motivated, and a quick learner! She knows her name, comes when called, and is eager to learn. No resource guarding here!

And prey drive? Moderate...well...except for those pesky squirrels? They sometimes tempt her to give chase, but they don't hold her attention for long!

Spirit will need to work on housetraining, so she'll need a patient person willing to help her master that skill. She's spayed and up to date on vaccinations, and she's ready for her next chapter!

She's currently in West Virginia with Saving Webster Dogs, but transport to the Hagerstown/Frederick, MD area and beyond can be arranged.

These three stooges were lucky enough to catch a freedom ride last night and arrived in their temporary foster under cover of darkness!

Meet Guinness, Re*****on, and Clutch... Three of the biggest, most loveable, goofballs you will ever want to meet. All three of these handsome hounds are available for adoption or rescue commitment...

Re*****on - Black and Tan mix, Neutered Male, 2.5 years old, 60 lbs
Clutch - Walker Hound, Neutered Male, 2 years old, 60 lbs

We Need Volunteers — And You Could Make a Difference!

As winter approaches, there are still so many dogs in need of help. We need more volunteers and foster homes so we can move more dogs to safety before the cold weather sets in.

We need more volunteers like Mike, Kayla and their daughter Makayla! ❤️

This wonderful family jumped right in and completed their first rescue transport with us a few weeks ago. We are so grateful they chose to volunteer their time and help give dogs a chance at a better life.
