We want to inform everyone that tomorrow’s Playday (August 21) and next Friday’s Playday (August 28) have been canceled due to the extreme heat.
The safety and well-being of our riders, families, volunteers, and livestock are our top priority. Rather than risk heat-related issues, we have decided to reschedule these events for September and October. Updated dates will be announced soon.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. Thank you for helping us keep both people and animals safe during these high temperatures.

😩😩😩Hey guys! 😩😩😩
We were planning to have a playday tonight, but we had some tractor issues and with the heat we cannot get the arena drug. We will be rolling this playday to 8/21/26 sorry for the inconvenience! Please share share share!! The weather is supposed to cool off this coming week 🤞

☀️🐴 IS IT TOO HOT TO RIDE? DO THE MATH FIRST!

Just because your horse is willing to work in the heat doesn’t mean it’s safe.

One of the easiest ways to estimate how efficiently your horse can cool himself is to add the actual air temperature (°F) + relative humidity (%).

🌡️ TEMPERATURE + HUMIDITY = YOUR NUMBER

Here’s a quick guide:

Temp + Humidity What It Means

Under 130 🟢 Lower risk — horses can cool themselves relatively efficiently

130–150 🟡 Use caution — cooling ability is decreased

Over 150 🔴 High risk — cooling ability is greatly reduced; avoid riding when possible

Over 180 🚨 DANGEROUS — conditions can become life-threatening with exertion

☀️ HERE'S AN EXAMPLE:
It’s 100°F outside with 58% relative humidity.
100 + 58 = 158
🔴 That puts your horse OVER 150.

Even though 58% humidity may not sound terrible, when combined with a 100°F air temperature, your horse has a much harder time getting rid of the heat produced during exercise.

DON'T FORGET THE INDIVIDUAL HORSE

These numbers are a guideline, not a guarantee of safety.
Older horses, overweight horses, horses that aren't conditioned to the heat, horses with long hair coats, and especially horses with anhidrosis can develop heat stress much sooner.

When temperatures are extreme, consider riding early in the morning, shortening your workout, decreasing the intensity, taking frequent breaks and providing plenty of water.

Sometimes the safest training decision you can make is simply:
It's too hot. We'll ride another day.

🏠 house keeping rules 🏠
Playday Rules & Points Information
• Points will only count in one age group. Riders may not move up age groups and have points count in two different divisions.
• Leadline is for any rider who requires assistance, regardless of age.
• To qualify as Leadline, the assisting person must be on foot
• If you choose to move up into another age group but still assist your child, those points will only count toward the Leadline division and will not count in the age group you moved into.
• We offer exhibitions and riders may choose:
◦ Exhibition A: Immediately following their age group, or
◦ Exhibition B: Following the Open division.
• Please notify the office of your choice. When you sign up
• The first horse ridden in your designated age group will be the horse that earns points for that rider.
Leadline Participation
Currently, Leadline is a participation division rather than a points division. If you would like this policy reviewed or changed, please bring your concerns to our attention. Any proposed changes can be discussed and voted on at the January meeting.
If you would like to see changes made, we encourage you to attend the meeting and participate in the discussion.
*Everyone must be signed up at 7:45 tomorrow to ensure we can start at 8pm

The arena is in good shape. It’s damp, but it’s dry enough to do our show. It’s just damp enough to keep the dust settled.
We will see everyone tonight at 7 pm!
