Thank you to everyone for attending the UCA annual meeting!
Guest Speaker Barbra Barns from the Delaware County clerks office brought lots of neat historical documents to show us, and updated us on the restoration of local historical locations, we couldn't be more proud of the work she and her associates are putting in to preserving local history. We absolutely loved seeing information about our ancestors!
The UCA held our election for all positions it went as follows; Sheila Coker Former UCA president nominated Cody Williams for UCA president he accepted and the vote was unanimous, John ann Thomas Masterson nominated Sheila Coker for UCA Treasurer, she accepted and the vote was unanimous, Andria Coker nominated Peggy Weaver for a second term as Vice president, she accepted and the vote was unanimous, Sheila Coker nominated John ann Masterson Thomas for UCA secretary, she accepted and the Vote was unanimous, Rick DuBois and Stan Thomas were nominated for a second term as UCA board members, they both accepted and the vote was unanimous, Andria Coker Nominated Lynne Arterberry for UCA reporter, she accepted and the vote was unanimous. Congratulations to everyone!!
We greatly appreciate our wonderful UCA board members/members for continuing to help us fulfill our mission. Our mission has always been clear it's to create and support a strong Cherokee Community by promoting and preserving Cherokee Culture, Language and History through hands on in person community activities that give us the knowledge and skills to pass down to future generations, We also provide resources for educational, recreational, youth programs and vital social services for our community!
