Join a DIA docent at The Helm for DIA Behind the Scenes: In Our Own Voice: African American Art.

The presentation will explore the creative contributions of African Americans from the 19th century through the present day and examine themes including race, gender, politics and culture.

Local history is calling! 🏛️

Join us for a visit to the Grosse Pointe Historical Society’s History Center and its newest exhibition, Robert O. Derrick: Architect of Dreams.

Enjoy light refreshments, talk local history with the Collections Manager and take an optional behind-the-scenes tour of the archives.

We’ll head to Mack Avenue Grille for lunch after the tour.

⏰ 10 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
💲 $30 per person, including roundtrip transportation and museum tour

🚗 A little refresher can go a long way.

The AARP Smart Driver Course is coming to The Helm for two days of practical information designed to help drivers stay confident and informed behind the wheel.

Topics include the effects of medication on driving, navigating left turns and roundabouts, new vehicle technology, reducing distractions, maintaining a safe following distance and more.

What really changes with our hair, skin and nails as we age, and what can we do about it?

Join us for Health for Her: Beauty as We Age, presented in partnership with The Family Center of Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods .

Physicians, dermatology professionals and industry experts will explore everything from thinning hair and changing skin to peptides, retinoids, collagen, Korean skincare, scalp health and red-light treatments.

The goal? Separate science from hype and help you make informed choices about products and treatments.

❤️ Blood pressure screenings are back at The Helm!

Beginning this month, screenings will once again be offered on the third Thursday of each month from 9:15–10 a.m.

Our October screening is this Thursday, October 15.

Regular blood pressure checks are a simple way to stay informed about your health, so stop in and take a few minutes for yourself.

Join us for Halloween Twilight Bingo at The Helm and get into the spirit with an evening of games, treats and festive fun.

Costumes are welcome, but definitely not required. Wear a silly hat, put on your favorite Halloween glasses or simply come as you are!

💉 Flu season is here, and there’s still time to schedule your appointment for Friday’s Flu Clinic at The Helm.

Healthcare professionals from Henry Ford Medical Center will administer flu vaccinations.

Please bring your Medicare card, driver’s license or Michigan ID, and any supplemental health insurance cards. If you do not have Medicare, there will be a charge for the vaccine; coverage may vary by insurance plan.

Appointments are required.
