This evening, Friday August 14, 2026, our church came together for Great Vespers with the Artoclasia Service and the beautiful Lamentations of the Theotokos.

His Eminence Metropolitan Sevastianos of Atlanta presided, joined by Father Sarantis, our visiting priests and deacons, Parish Council, the Ladies of Philoptochos, and parishioners from our community and sister churches across North Carolina.

We closed the night with a warm reception sponsored by the Philoptochos Sisterhood “St. Philothea” in the social hall.

Tomorrow, Saturday August 15, we continue the celebration of our church’s name day — Dormition of the Theotokos — with Orthros at 8:45 AM followed by Divine Liturgy. A blessed weekend for our whole community.

On Sunday, April 26, 2026, our parish family at Dormition of the Theotokos Orthodox Church prayerfully celebrated the Sunday of the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women.

This sacred day commemorates the faithful women who came to the tomb of Christ bearing myrrh to anoint His body, only to discover the empty tomb and become the first witnesses of His Resurrection. Their courage, love, and unwavering devotion continue to inspire the Church today.

In this spirit, we offered special prayers for the members of our Myrrh Bearers Ministry and their families, honoring their dedication, service, and love for Christ and His Church.

May the example of the Holy Myrrh-Bearers strengthen us all to serve with faith, courage, and devotion!

Christ is Risen! ☦️

Agape Vespers Gospel Reading in Many Languages! The tradition of the Orthodox Church on this day is to have parishioners participate in the reading of the Gospel in as many languages as possible. Languages read are: English, Greek, Arabic,Ukrainian, French, Romanian, German, Italian, Spanish, Persian, Russian, Latin, Chinese! The Orthodox Church reads the Paschal Gospel in multiple languages to symbolize the universality of Christ’s resurrection, declaring the Good News to all nations. This tradition, often held during Agape Vespers, highlights that the faith transcends any single culture, language, or ethnicity, representing the unity of the church.
