A Simple Gesture GSO/HP/Guilford County A Simple Gesture GSO/HP/GC is a food collection initiative that supports food banks & pantries To participate is simple! Sign up for a bag.

A Simple Gesture engages the entire community to make Guilford County a wonderful place to live for all of our neighbors. Our goal is to end hunger by providing a sustainable supply of food to local food banks. Our 3 main programs are:

Green Bag Donors (Nonperishable Food)

1. We will deliver a green bag with a list of the items local food banks need the most along with a list of pick up

dates.
2. Every time you go grocery shopping, pick up one extra item, and store it in your bag.
3. On the designated day, leave your bag outside your front door. A volunteer will pick up your bag, leave a new one, and deliver the food directly to one of our food bank partners. Food Recovery Program (Perishable Food)

Food Recovery's purpose is feeding not wasting. We partner with food industry businesses like grocery stores, restaurants, and caterers to collect wholesome, fresh leftover food to distribute to vetted food agencies. SHARE Program (in partnership with Guilford County Schools)

SHARE is part of ASG's Food Recovery Program offered to Guilford County Schools. In the summer of 2023, ASG purchased refrigerators for all 126 GCS schools. Students can store unopened food in the refrigerators for any student needing extra. Since June 2015, we have collected over 3 million meals for children and families in Guilford County. Thanks to so many people and businesses participating A Simple Gesture, we are working to end hunger in our community.

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!! 🍎🎒✏️🚸🏫

ASG is thrilled to partner with GCS with our SHARE program.

Students place unopened food items from the cafeteria in the fridge, and other students can grab items when they need extra nutrition during the school day. This program also works great for students needing a snack when staying after school for band practice, sports, tutoring and more.

Ask your kids where their SHARE fridge is in their school!

NEXT SATURDAY, AUG 22! Join us at the 5th Annual Back-to-School Community Bash!

This free community event helps students and families prepare for a successful school year by connecting them with valuable resources, services, and community support. The Jay Mack Community Foundation will give away 500 book bags filled with essential school supplies for elementary and middle school students. A Simple Gesture will be there to spread the word about our SHARE program.

The weather is looking GREAT for tonight! Come out to hear some great music, and say hello to A Simple Gesture!

One more summer evening of music, food, and community!

Our 2026 Summertime Sounds series wraps up on Thursday, August 20, with Young Fables , an award-winning Country Pop and Roots duo from Tennessee. Come early at 6:00 p.m. for a complimentary hot dog supper and sweet treats, then grab your lawn chair or blanket and settle in for a great evening together.

Bring a friend, bring a neighbor, and help us close out Summertime Sounds on a high note!
