Prayer is what propels our ministry. Join Feed the Hunger CEO, Joseph Williams, from our Global Partners Summit in Istanbul, Turkey, as he encourages us to continue praying for our partners and staff, for everyone who packs food, and for those who receive it in the name of Christ. The summit was a wonderful time of fellowship and learning, as our strategic partners each brought a unique perspective that enriched our understanding of God at work in his world. All of this is only possible through prayer. So thank you for your faithfulness as a prayer partner, and may God bless your desire to bless those in need!

Through Feed the Hunger Packathons, nutritious meals reach children in the United States and around the world, helping them focus, learn, and build a brighter future. Every meal offers more than nourishment. It brings hope to families facing hardship and creates opportunities to share the love of Jesus. Thank you for helping children grow, thrive, and experience the hope of Christ!

God chose to work through Israel to bring about blessing and salvation for the entire world. Yet the story of Israel is one filled with pride and rebellion against the God who made them. The prophet Malachi gave a blunt, point-by-point assessment of all the ways the people of Israel were breaking their covenant with the Lord. Whether it was blemished sacrifices, false teaching, infidelity, injustice, or arrogance, it seemed as if God had no choice but to abandon his people. However, in the midst of all this bad news, he reminded Israel that he would not forsake the covenant: “I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed” (Malachi 3:6).

It is the unchanging goodness of God that sustained his people through centuries of oppression and ultimately led to the sacrifice of his Son to redeem the world. Instead of the sin that only brings death and separation from God, the love he showed through Jesus Christ brings eternal, abundant life to his children. Malachi closes his prophecy with a promise from the Lord that for those who trust him, “the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays” (4:2). As we continue to live in the righteous light of Christ, may we seek out those in dark places who desperately need the changeless grace and love of the Savior.

Acts chapter 2 opens with perhaps the most groundbreaking event in church history—that first day of Pentecost following Jesus’ resurrection—and closes with a description of the day-to-day life of the earliest believers. One is spectacular, featuring sights, sounds, and languages unlike anything those present had ever experienced. The other is comparatively routine: teaching, fellowship, eating together, praying, and sharing as anyone had need. Yet both realities speak to the nature of how God works in and through his people.

God sometimes works in spectacular fashion (think of Peter’s Pentecost sermon that pointed 3,000 to Christ), but other times he matures people slowly through practical kindness and fellowship. The simple act of breaking bread and extending grace can profoundly change a life. As you pray for these needs this week, consider how the seemingly simplest acts can be used by God to draw unbelievers to himself and strengthen those who are already his children. May the Lord bless you this week with the opportunity to fellowship with someone who needs that special touch!

In Mali, ongoing violence has forced families from their homes and devastated communities across the Mopti region. Amid this hardship, our partners are bringing the hope of God’s Word to people who have never had access to it in their own language. This summer, native Dogon speakers reviewed and recorded eight Bible story booklets in Dogon, along with four in Malinké. These recordings will soon be shared on MP3 players with displaced communities and villages, giving people the opportunity to hear the message of Jesus in a language they understand. Your partnership is helping God’s Word reach places where hope is desperately needed. Please pray that these stories will bring comfort, hope, and new faith throughout Mali!

God has graciously revealed himself to us through Scripture. As Paul reminds Timothy, “All Scripture is God-breathed” and is able to make us “wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:15–16). Because the Bible comes from God, we can trust it as our foundation for knowing him, understanding his purposes, and living in obedience to him. But Scripture does more than inform what we believe. It also shapes how we live. God’s Word teaches, corrects, encourages, and equips us for every good work. It reveals the good news of Jesus Christ and calls us to reflect his character in our relationships, our communities, and our service to others.

As we bring our prayers and praises before the Lord this week, may we be reminded that our work begins with him and is sustained by him. May his Word continue to shape our hearts, deepen our faith, and guide our hands as we seek to share the love of Christ with those experiencing spiritual and physical hunger around the world.

Nestled in the Himalayan mountains of South Asia lies the country of Nepal. On August 26, a massive section of the Langtang Lirung glacier broke away, triggering a landslide that tore through the river valleys of northern Nepal. Some areas buried under as much as 26 feet of mud and rock. Over 5,000 people are still missing, and more than 1,400 have lost their lives. Entire towns have been wiped out, leaving thousands crowded into temporary shelters. These families need more than food and shelter. They need the comfort and peace that only Jesus can bring. Our partner in Nepal has begun distributing gas stoves and fuel, quilts, bedding, and other essential supplies, meeting urgent physical needs while showing the love of Jesus in the process.

Please consider making a gift today at https://www.feedthehunger.org/aid-relief/ to help our partners bless the people of Nepal during this difficult time.

At our Gathering of Friends this past week, we were honored to visit with one of our newer partners, Dr. Victor Gonzalez, who directs benevolence ministries for the Western Baptist Convention of Cuba. Join our Global Outreach Manager, Vicky Stelling, as she and Victor speak to the current spiritual reality in Cuba. Please pray that the hearts of the Cuban people would turn toward Christ in response to the compassion shown by the church. Feed the Hunger meals are part of this outreach in communities across the island nation, and it's only possible through your prayers and support!

Throughout Scripture, we are called to care for widows and those who are vulnerable. In Timbuktu, Mali, Christian widows often face poverty, insecurity, and isolation. After the passing of her husband, a Christian pastor, Mrs. Fady Cissé’s home fell into disrepair. Thanks to your generosity, Feed the Hunger was able to help repair and restore her home, giving her a safer and more dignified place to live. “It is not only my house that has been repaired; I also felt that I was not forgotten.” Thank you for reminding vulnerable widows like Mrs. Cissé that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten!

At the center of our faith is what Jesus has done. Yet we often get this backward and think the Christian life is about something we need to do. That is why the gospel is good news, not good advice. Advice puts burdens on us; it tells us what to do. The gospel removes the burden. Our lives and good works then flow from what Christ has done for us and continues to do through us.

We need to keep reminding ourselves of this good news because we easily forget. Our hearts are easily drawn toward other loves and other places to find meaning, purpose, and identity. We start to think that our acceptance by God is based on our obedience to him.

Prayer is one of the ways we return to what is of first importance. We come before our Heavenly Father, the One who has already done for us what we could never do for ourselves. As we pray together this week, may the gospel remain at the center, and may this good news of Jesus continue to take root, bear fruit, and move outward through his people.
