Resources for heat relief over the next few days if you are outdoors or don’t have housing with AC. It’s important to cool off every few hours and stay hydrated, if possible.
The City of Greensboro is sharing information about available heat relief resources in response to forecasted high temperatures of at least 95 degrees.

The Department of Community Safety will distribute bottled water at the Greensboro Police Department (GPD), 100 E. Police Plaza. Monday through Friday from 12 to 5 pm. The GSO HOME Mobile outreach team will work throughout the community to provide hydration bags. These bags include water and electrolyte packets, and staff will also help connect individuals to nearby cooling stations. GPD will also have hydration packs available for distribution.
Heat relief efforts are activated when temperatures are expected to reach 95 degrees or higher, or when the heat index poses a significant health risk. Individuals without access to air conditioning, older adults, and those with underlying health conditions are especially vulnerable.
Residents are encouraged to avoid outdoor activity during peak heat hours, drink water regularly, and check on neighbors who may be at risk. For assistance or more information, call or text the Department of Community Safety at 336-402-2499.
