MEMO TO ALL MEMBERS
A Call to Step Forward — Your Lodge Needs You
Fellow Members,
Summer has arrived, and with it many of us are turning our attention to longawaited projects, travel, and time with family. As noted in the official notice, it even affects our own “Jackofalltrades” Keith Long…who will remain a lodge member, but has resigned all of his various duties as of June 25th” so he can attend to responsibilities outside the lodge. His years of service have kept countless lodge functions running smoothly, and we are deeply grateful for all he has done.
But Keith’s departure from his roles leaves us with a challenge—and an opportunity.
We now need volunteers to help keep our bar operations running. This does not need to fall on one person. A team of volunteers sharing the schedule can make the commitment light, flexible, and enjoyable.

These times may shift as needed, but this is our current operating schedule.
Why Volunteer? Because It Feels Good to Make a Difference
Volunteering at the lodge isn’t just about filling a shift. It’s about the personal rewards that come from stepping up:
Connection — You meet members you may never have crossed paths with otherwise.
Belonging — You become part of the heartbeat of the lodge, not just a visitor.
Pride — You see firsthand how your time keeps the lodge open, active, and thriving.
Joy — There’s something special about serving your fellow members, sharing stories, and being part of the laughter and camaraderie.
Impact — The bar is one of the few revenue sources that keeps our lodge operating. Your service directly strengthens our future.
Many members say that volunteering—even just a few hours a month—made them feel more connected, more appreciated, and more at home in the lodge than ever before.
What’s Needed
Volunteers will need an OLCC license (online, $55), which the lodge will reimburse after 20 hours of service. This is an unpaid volunteer role, but the personal rewards are real and lasting.
We are also seeking one member willing to serve as Bar Manager. Responsibilities can be obtained from Debbie Carlen.
This Is Your Moment to Step In
Our lodge has had a strong year, and we want to keep that momentum going. As the notice reminds us, “the only funds we receive to keep this lodge open come from membership fees, Queen of Hearts, dinner and lunch meals, and the bar.” Your time—your presence—makes a real difference.
Whether you can help once a month or once a week, your contribution matters.
Please contact Debbie Carlen at the lodge or ER Paul Lonnquist at (805) 990-0557 to volunteer.
Let’s continue building a lodge we can all be proud of—together.
Fraternally, Lodge Leadership
