Two years in, and Monday night reminded us exactly why we do this.
Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. Seeing that room full of people who believe in what we are building — it genuinely fills us up.
A special thank you to who gave her afternoon to hand-build the balloon wave that became the backdrop for every photo and every laugh of the night. Thank you to for helping us with sound and tech at the last moment — this is such a gift to me, you have no idea! Thank you to , , and Boni Tolson for sharing your art with us on Monday night. That kind of generosity is what this community is made of.
Thank you to .kc for nourishing our stomachs and our hearts with your soups. Warm food and warm people — it was the perfect combination.
And to our staff and staff families who showed up to serve our volunteers — thank you. You serve most of the time in unseen places and this community reaps the benefit. Thank you for loving and believing and investing in .
Every single person who walked through that door Monday night is part of what we are building here. Not a guest. Not an observer. A part of it.
A third place can't be bought, scheduled, or forced into existence. But it can be built — by people who keep showing up.

"If we were lucky enough as children to be surrounded by grown-ups who loved us, then our sense of wholeness is not just the sense of completeness in ourselves but also in the sense of belonging to others and to our place; it is an unconscious awareness of community, of having in common."
