Our 40th Annual Excellence in Education celebration was one to remember.
Last night, we had the privilege of honoring outstanding students from across Northwest Ottawa County, along with the educators who made a lasting impact on their journey.
Each student recognized also nominated an educator who helped shape their path. Together, they represent the dedication, encouragement, and relationships that make achievement possible.
This year marked 40 years of Excellence in Education. We were especially honored to recognize Dottie Johnson, who brought this program to our community after discovering the idea in 1986 and has remained a dedicated advocate for education ever since.
We also welcomed back individuals connected to that very first year, including Mary Jane Evink and Ken Formsma, who were recognized in 1987 and have continued to impact students for decades. In her remarks, Mary Jane brought the evening full circle, encouraging graduates as they step into what’s next to continue investing in others. Because when we invest in people, communities thrive.
To our students, educators, and families. Congratulations, and thank you for being part of a tradition that continues to shape the future of our community.
