Summer has arrived in West Michigan, and with it comes blueberry season! Ottawa County is known as Michigan's "Blueberry Capital," and each year hundreds of migrant and seasonal farmworkers travel to our area to help plant, cultivate, and harvest the crops that support our local economy and put fresh fruit on our tables.
At Iglesia Episcopal de San Juan - Hispana, Grand Haven, MI - St. John's Episcopal Church, we believe that everyone deserves to feel welcomed, valued, and connected. Through our annual Fiesta en el Campo, we work to ensure that migrant workers and their families know they are an important part of our community while they are here.
Our celebration includes a bilingual church service, food trucks, children's activities, community resources, connections to local organizations, hygiene items, clothing, and opportunities for fellowship. We do this because we are called to love our neighbors and care for one another.
Plans are now underway for this year's Fiesta en el Campo!
*The church building will be closed on Monday and Tuesday. Please bring donations on Wednesday, June 24 through July 13, we will be collecting:
🧺 Laundry detergent
🧴 Dish soap
👕 Dryer sheets

🛏️ Twin-size sheet sets (new)
☁️ Pillows (new)

Thank you for helping us extend a warm West Michigan welcome to the workers and families who contribute so much to our community each summer. Together, we can help ensure they feel seen, supported, and appreciated.
