District 9 BLP customers, we have a chance to build local solar together, but only if enough of us sign up by December 15.

The Grand Haven Board of Light & Power is proposing a Community Solar Garden on city-owned land near the airport that can't be used for much else. 1,000 shares are available, and at least 330 (33%) must be purchased by December 15 for the project to move forward.

Here's how it works:
🔆 Buy a share for a one-time $570
🔆 Get credits on your monthly electric bill for the next 20 years
🔆 Open to renters, homeowners, and businesses. No panels on your roof needed
🔆 If the goal isn't met, everyone gets a full refund

The BLP designed this to break even over 20 years, not to make a profit. It's a way to back clean energy made right here at home.

Our GHAPS School Board recommendations are in. 🗳️

Absentee ballots are going out now, so here's who District 9 supports for the Grand Haven Area Public Schools Board of Education:

How we got here: our steering committee sent a questionnaire to every candidate, reviewed their social media, looked at their past service on local boards, and drew on personal contact and knowledge. Our goal is always the same — screen out candidates who espouse extremist views and support those who will best represent the citizens of Ottawa County and promote good governance.

This is an organization that is helping to support the proposed school millage to upgrade our schools. These upgrades are sorely needed. If the millage doesn’t pass, we are potentially looking at consolidating elementary schools. Please help us get the word out!

• September 16: 9 a.m. | Ferry Elementary
• October 1: 12 p.m. | Virtual: GHAPS.org/bond
• October 14: 7 p.m. | Peach Plains Elementary

These sessions offer an opportunity to learn more about the proposal, planned projects, and estimated tax impact, and to ask questions.

Ottawa County's Mental Health Millage is up for renewal on the August 4, 2026, primary ballot. This millage is NOT a request for new taxes; it is a renewal of the existing millage, which ensures important mental health services for our community.
