Event Details
📆 Saturday, June 27 | 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
📍334 E Harden St, Graham, NC
📩 RSVP required as space is limited. Please register by submitting the form on presalamance.org/current-events by Monday, June 22.

This tour offers a unique opportunity to explore the 1911 sanctuary, the 1876 original chapel, the grounds and the historic cemetery.

In 1875, Rev. J.W. Wellons organized the Children’s Chapel Christian Church as a place of worship for local formerly enslaved people. As we celebrate the congregation’s 150th anniversary (1875–2025), we also celebrate its future: the church was officially designated as an historic landmark in March, 2026.

That's a wrap on Preservation Month 2026!

What a month May was. We kicked things off on May 2 by celebrating Preservation Month and a major milestone—10 years of preserving, protecting, and advocating for historic places throughout Alamance County.

We loved spending the day with supporters, volunteers, neighbors, and friends at The Salvage Shop. From coffee and conversation to architectural treasures and shared stories, it was the perfect way to celebrate all that preservation means to our community.

We'd like to recognize a few people who helped make the celebration so special:

Thank you to Jackson Street for providing the soundtrack to a fantastic afternoon.

Thank you to Glencoe Mill Village for being the home of The Salvage Shop and for helping preserve one of Alamance County's most treasured historic places.

And thank you to our generous sponsors. Your support fuels our mission and helps ensure that the historic buildings, neighborhoods, and stories that make Alamance County special continue to thrive.

Congratulations to Amanda and Vedhika, the winners of our Preservation Month t-shirt drawing!

And don't forget to grab one of our new Preservation Alamance stickers at an upcoming event. They're the perfect way to show your love for old houses, historic places, and preservation in action.

Thank you for celebrating with us and for supporting preservation all year long. Here's to the next 10 years!

May is National Preservation Month — a time to celebrate the places, stories, and shared history that shape our communities.

Historic places are more than old buildings. They are reminders of where we’ve been, who we are, and the stories worth carrying forward.

This powerful feature from Elon News Network Worthy of Preservation, highlights local properties across Alamance County and the importance of preserving them for future generations. We’re grateful to see these spaces and stories honored in such a meaningful way.

We’re still coming down from the excitement of last Sunday’s 6th Annual Tour of Historic Homes — and what a day it was! 🏡✨

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who toured, volunteered, and helped make this year’s event such a wonderful success. Your enthusiasm and community spirit are what keep this beloved tradition alive.

We’re especially grateful to The Carter+Smith Group of Allen Tate Realtors, the official sponsor of the 2025 tour. Their generous support helps make it possible to celebrate and preserve the historic charm and architectural beauty that make our community so special.
