Did you know? Elkhart County was chosen to pioneer a statewide Career Coaching pilot and Horizon Career Navigation now places a dedicated coach in every public high school in the county.

In the 2025-26 school year alone, those coaches helped high schoolers complete 27,504 career-readiness activities — from job interview prep to FAFSA help to connecting graduation plans to real career goals. And it starts even earlier: through Career Quest and Manufacturing Day, HEA partners with 40+ local employers to give every 7th- and 8th-grader in the county a hands-on look at local career paths.

That's what it looks like when schools, businesses, and community work together to open doors for students. 🎯

Our Career Navigation team is looking for volunteers to conduct Mock Interviews with Elkhart County students. Help students build confidence, practice professional communication, and get ready to succeed after graduation.

What's involved:
✨ Conduct 10-15 minute practice interviews (questions provided!)
✨ Share constructive feedback
✨ No advance prep needed. We've got you covered!

2026-2027 Mock Interview Dates:
📍 Sept 17 – Concord High School
📍 Dec 17 – Jimtown High School
📍 Mar 23-24 – Elkhart High School
📍 Apr 29 – Fairfield High School

🎉 Exciting News! Our CareerWise Elkhart County Modern Youth Apprenticeship initiative has been selected as one of only four partnerships nationwide to receive an inaugural PAYA Innovation Grant!

We're thrilled to pilot a leadership development training program designed to transform apprentice retention, workplace success, and sense of belonging. With support from New America's PAYA (Pathways for Apprenticeship and Youth Action) initiative, we're testing innovative approaches to keep apprentices engaged and thriving.

This $25,000 grant fuels our mission to remove barriers and create pathways for youth; especially those most at risk of disconnecting from their programs. Over the next six months, we'll be documenting what works and sharing our learnings with the broader youth apprenticeship field.
