Engine 21 and Engine 41 dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire in the area of Hwy 6 mile marker 263. Engine 21 arrived on scene to find a fully involved vehicle fire, engine 21 worked on fire attack. All occupants escaped safely and no injuries were reported. The fire ruptured the fuel tank and caused extensive damage and caused a difficult firefight. I-70 Things ®

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Golden Police Department this morning.

Scene is now clear – Circle K on Colfax Ave.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., Golden Police officers responded to the Circle K gas station after receiving a report of a man with a handgun. During the contact, the suspect fired at responding officers, who returned fire. One officer was shot by the suspect. That officer was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury. The suspect is deceased. There is no active threat to the community.

The Jefferson County Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) is conducting the investigation. Please avoid the area while investigators remain on scene. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Tuesday Afternoon, Rescue 21, Brush Engine 24, Medic 21 and Battalion 21 were dispatched to a report of a backcountry rescue in the area of golden cliffs on North Table. Crews responded to access points and made patient contact. Crews assisted patient into stokes basket and down the golden cliffs trail to the awaiting medic unit. Patient was transported in stable condition to a local trauma center.

Sunday Evening at approx 6:06pm Rescue 21, Battalion 21, Truck 24 and Medic 21 were dispatched to a report of a high angle rescue in clear creek canyon near Tunnel 2. Units responded and requested a mutual aid response from ArvadaFire and assistance from Alpine Rescue Team. Units arrived on scene and began to find access to a person who was stuck at the end of their rope and needed to be rescued off the rock face. Please be mindful of these fire restrictions this weekend! We have extremely dry fuel conditions in addition to multiple large wildfires in Colorado. Jefferson County is also in stage 2 fire restrictions. Please enjoy this weekend responsibly.

As of 8:00 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, July 2, the City of Golden is entering a Stage 2 Fire Ban, in alignment with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Charcoal grills, tiki torches, wood or combustible fire rings, and sky lanterns are not authorized for use, including at private residences.

This week, Golden Fire had a joint wildland training between West Metro Prof. Firefighters and Local 5336. Apparatus from Station 6, 41, 21, and 24, along with Battalion 21, and District 1 were all present to complete agency apparatus familiarization to ensure interoperability, consistency, and communication during wildland incidents.
