After tonight‘s union meeting, Laborers Local 218 VOC put together birthday parties in a box. These are a cake pan, cake, mix, frosting, a pack of balloons, and a happy birthday banner. These boxes will be donated to a local food shelter, who will pass them out to families in need because it’s terribly stressful for young parents who may be struggling in today’s economy to have to throw a birthday party for A child.  this is one of the small ways that we like to give back to our community who supports us. Thank you to everybody who was able to stay and help after the meeting and a special thanks to Nate Sancamper who was able to pick up the supplies and will drop these off as I did not have time.  It’s you the members that make this Local great.

Regie Taylor Passed away 8-25-26. Visitation will be 9-4-26 from 9am to 11am at Deliverance Temple on east 6th street in Alton.

After our next meeting Wednesday 09/02/2026, there will be a short VOC meeting/ activity at the Union Hall. We will be assembling “Birthday Party Boxes “ to be donated to a local food pantry. It will probably only take 15 minutes, so if you are planning on making the meeting, please consider joining us afterwards to help members of the community that we work in. Remember, every union member is also A VOC member.
