CELEBRATING A CENTURY OF COOL
Downtown Alton came alive Friday evening as the community gathered to celebrate the 100th Birthday Celebration of legendary jazz icon Miles Davis. 🎺
The evening welcomed special guests including Karen Wilson, President of Pride Beautification, Mayor David Goins, historian and MC Pete Basola, and the artist Michael Snider, creator of The Thousand Trumpets. Dr. Samuels, who delivered Miles Davis, was portrayed by Vintage Voices actor, Jared Hennings.
Preston Jackson, the prolific artist and sculptor of Alton’s Iconic Miles Davis statue and his assistant Joy Kessler were also in attendance.
Guests enjoyed an unforgettable evening of live jazz performed by the Jim Manley Group as Alton honored one of its most celebrated musical legends.
There’s still time to join the celebration!
