On Saturday, October 10th, Activities took a group to historic downtown St. Charles, Missouri, for the Legends and Lanterns festival and ate lunch at Gingham’s restaurant.

At Legends and Lanterns we got to meet bunch of characters including the Evil Queen, the Loch Ness Monster, the Jersey Devil, the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Captain James Hook, Anne Bonny, the Siren, the Queen of Hearts, Aos Si, Big Foot, Lizzie Borden, Gingerbread Witch, Sweeney Todd, Mrs. Lovett, and the one I think we liked the most -- the Big Bad Wolf.

The Big Bad Wolf and Zech R. from Group Home 2 got into quite the heated argument over whether Little Red Ridding Hood was good or bad. She also let us know that the 3 little pigs were horrible carpenters and she just had allergies.

Today is Bosses’ Day, and we’re turning the spotlight around.

Leadership at Beverly Farm doesn’t always come with a title. It’s the direct support professional who knows just how each person we support likes their morning. The nurse who notices when someone is having a hard day. The team member on the overnight shift who keeps everything steady while the Farm sleeps.

To our managers and supervisors, thank you for leading with heart. And to everyone who leads by example, every single day: that is not a small thing. Thank you all!

Activities with help from the CILAs took a group to Pickleball Palooza on Sunday, October 4th. It was the 6th annual Lynne F. Solon Foundation’s Pickleball Palooza.

They enjoyed a free lunch provided by Rae’s Café, face-painting, balloon artistry, inflatable games, caricatures, a magician, a photo booth and residents also got the chance to learn to play pickleball.

📸 A Day Out in Alton! ❤️

The ladies of Beverly Cottage enjoyed a visit to the famous Robert Wadlow statue in Alton, Illinois! 🗽 Known as the world's tallest man, Robert Wadlow stood an incredible 8 feet, 11 inches tall! His statue is life-size and so is the reproduction of his chair that visitors can sit in! 🤯

It was a fun opportunity to explore a local landmark, learn a little history and make memories together! 🥰

At Beverly Farm, we love seeing our residents enjoy new experiences, spend time with friends and make the most of every day!

At CDS, individuals in the Contract Area participated in voting for the fattest bear during Fat Bear Week, a week-long competition where people vote online for which Alaskan brown bear is the most ready for winter hibernation. In celebration of the final vote we had a special visit by a big brown bear and everyone got to paint bear ornaments.

A group of guys from our Group Home headed out for dinner at Fast Eddie’s Bon Air!

They were so excited to get out, enjoy some good food, and couldn’t wait to show their IDs when they arrived. It was a great evening filled with good food, big smiles, and plenty of fun!

💙💛 October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month! 💛💙

This month, we celebrate people with Down syndrome and recognize the many ways they contribute to and enrich our communities.

At Beverly Farm, we believe every person deserves to be valued, respected, included, and given meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, connect, and thrive. One fun way to show your support this month is by wearing “odd socks” — brightly colored, mismatched socks — as a visible reminder to celebrate individuality, embrace differences, and promote inclusion. Throughout October, we’re proud to celebrate the individuals with Down syndrome who are an important part of our Beverly Farm family.

Join us in celebrating abilities, embracing inclusion, and helping create a community where everyone has the opportunity to shine! 💙💛
