Found A Hound Rescue FAHR is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of street dogs

FAHR provides medical care and routine vetting to prepare dogs for adoption. This includes emergency medical care, surgeries, vaccinations, spays and neuters, microchips, heartworm tests, heartworm treatment if needed and medications. We also provide all supplies and food for our foster homes. We are always purchasing traps and upgrades to our equipment and cameras to better allow us to capture lost and stray dogs.

Sometimes dogs know exactly what another dog needs.

Jessie (right) recently lost her foster home and was understandably nervous moving into a new one. Raina (left) seemed to sense her anxiety and spent the day right by her side, offering comfort and reassurance.

Watching their sweet friendship unfold was truly heartwarming.

Sadly, neither of these wonderful girls has had much interest, and we just can’t understand why. They are both amazing dogs with so much love to give.

Please consider opening your heart and home to Jessie or Raina. We know whoever adopts them will be gaining an incredible companion.

Vira and Aggie, the little Aussiedoodles who had everyone worried while running loose through downtown Alton on Friday, dodging traffic and staying one step ahead of rescuers, have been safely trapped and reunited with their owner!

These pups are known escape artists, so if you see them out again, please let us know right away and we’ll contact their owner.

We’re so happy this adventure had a safe ending!

Mocha has been missing since 10:40a.m on Thursday June 18.

She jumped from the car at Club Car Wash across from Chick-Fil-A and ran towards the field behind Orlando Place.

She is only 4 months old and 16 pounds. She is brown with black leopard spots.

She was wearing a white collar with pastel pink and purple leopard print and a pink retractable leash.

There has been NO sightings reported, so PLEASE be on the lookout!

🚨 STILL URGENT: Odin Needs a Child-Free Home 🚨

Odin (formerly Scooter) was adopted from FAHR in March of 2022. His family has made the heartbreaking decision to rehome Odin due to increasing aggression toward their toddler.

They have worked with both their vet and trainer for over a year, and they have advised that he is not safe to remain in a home with young children.

Odin is NOT a bad dog. He is sweet, affectionate, and very loyal. However, he needs a child-free home where he can feel safe and comfortable.

Odin is a great Pyrenees/cattle dog mix, approximately 5-6 years old and weighs 65lbs.

His family is willing to keep him while we help search for the right fit. They are willing to help with food and vet care also

❤️ About Odin:
• Loves fetch and is amazing at catching tennis balls
• Loves lounging outside and patrolling the yard
• Sweet, affectionate, and loves to snuggle in a calm environment
• Crate trained and potty trained
• No chewing or destructive behaviors
• Knows basic commands including sit, stay, paw, and “climb”
• Great with cats and small/medium dogs
• Resource guards food, so he is fed in his crate

Odin truly is a good dog. He just cannot live safely with young children.

Odin’s adoption fee is $150. This includes vaccinations, neuter, microchip, heartworm test, wormer and maintaining preventions while in our care.

From feral to friendly… and finally living the life she deserves! 🐾❤️

Just a few months ago, Jessie was absolutely terrified of everything.

She came to us as a stray, only for us to later learn she had an owner. Her first year of life was spent outside with little to no human interaction.

She even had a litter of puppies who went to 5A’s Humane Society. The plan was for Jessie to follow, but the shelter environment was just too overwhelming for her.

We were scrambling, unsure what to do… and then Cindy stepped up.

And wow, what a difference love and patience can make.

Cindy has worked tirelessly to show Jessie that people can be kind, safe, and loving. Watching her transformation has been nothing short of incredible.

Jessie has finally made the transition from living in the garage to indoors and she is absolutely loving it!

This is such a huge milestone for Jessie, and now she’s ready for her next big step: finding the forever family she deserves.

About Jessie:
• 1.5 years old
• 50 lbs
• Sweet, happy girl
• Shy at first but warms up with patience
• Playful
• Dog friendly

• House & Crate trained

Bubba is getting the full VIP treatment today! ❤️

Thanks to the generous donations received while he was on the run, Bubba is getting the chop-chop, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm tested, and Proheart12.

He was SO happy to see Vicki when she arrived to pick him up. It was wonderful to see that he still remembers her.

Not too long ago, this big guy was dodging capture and keeping everyone on their toes. Now he’s safe, loved, and getting everything he needs for a healthy future.

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared his story, and helped bring Bubba to safety. We couldn’t do it without you!

After meeting a few potential families, Buffy is still waiting for the right fit.

She requires a secure fenced yard with no escape points. While she isn’t an escape artist, she may try to get out while adjusting to her new home, so extra care should be taken until she feels comfortable and settled.

Buffy is a breeder release who is finally getting the chance to step away from that life and simply be a beloved companion.

Her days of having puppies are behind her now, and she’s ready to experience what it means to be cared for, spoiled, and part of a real family.

She is sweet, shy and beautiful! Don’t let her age fool you, she’s still got plenty of energy and lots of love to give.
