FAHR provides medical care and routine vetting to prepare dogs for adoption. This includes emergency medical care, surgeries, vaccinations, spays and neuters, microchips, heartworm tests, heartworm treatment if needed and medications. We also provide all supplies and food for our foster homes. We are always purchasing traps and upgrades to our equipment and cameras to better allow us to capture lost and stray dogs.

So many of FAHR’s OGs have been crossing the rainbow bridge lately, and yesterday sweet Allie’s family had to say goodbye. 😢🌈

Many may remember Allie and her sister, Aria, from their trip to New York City for the 2015 Puppy Bowl filming. ⭐

After her big adventures, Allie spent the next 11 years doing what she did best… loving her family and making everyone smile. Even as she grew old and faced pain, she remained happy, gentle, and full of love.

Her family surrounded her with love during her peaceful goodbye. In one final sweet moment, her furry sibling companion Harper gently nuzzled her goodbye. 💔

Run free, sweet girl. You will always be part of the Found a Hound Rescue family. 🐾🌈

🚨 STILL URGENT: Odin Needs a Child-Free Home 🚨

Odin (formerly Scooter) was adopted from FAHR in March of 2022. His family has made the heartbreaking decision to rehome him due to increasing aggression toward their toddler.

They have worked with both their vet and trainer for over a year, and they have advised that he is not safe to remain in a home with young children.

Odin is NOT a bad dog. He is sweet, affectionate, and very loyal. However, he needs a child-free home where he can feel safe and comfortable.

His family is willing to keep him while we help search for the right fit. They are willing to help with food and vet care also.

❤️ About Odin:
• Pyrenees, heeler mix, 5 to 6 years old, 65 pounds
• Loves fetch and is amazing at catching tennis balls
• Loves lounging outside and patrolling the yard
• Sweet, affectionate, and loves to snuggle in a calm environment
• Crate trained and potty trained
• No chewing or destructive behaviors
• Knows basic commands including sit, stay, paw, and “climb”
• Great with cats and small/medium dogs
• Resource guards food, so he is fed in his crate

Odin truly is a good dog. He just cannot live safely with young children.

Please share so we can find Odin the safe home he deserves before a serious incident happens.

🐾 ADOPT ROCKY 🐾

Rocky is 4 years old and sadly lost his human, so now he’s searching for a new family to love.

Rocky is 28 lbs and has the cutest scruffy, low-rider look, like a Dachshund/Scottie mix that somehow turned out absolutely perfect.

✨ Rocky’s Highlights:
• Super sweet and affectionate
• Total Velcro dog, just wants to be with his person
• Dog & cat friendly, but will do best with female dogs
• Loves walks and does great on a leash
• Not a fan of crates, would do best in a home where someone is around often
• House, crate trained

Rocky has so much love to give and is just looking for someone to be his person again.

He deserves a home where he can feel safe, loved, and never alone again.

We wish we had a better update on the coyote with the tube around her neck in Alton, IL

She is absolutely breaking our hearts. 😭

As you can see from the picture, her injuries from the tube are very severe.

Unfortunately, she will not stay in one place long enough for us to work on trapping. She finds a feeding station, eats once or twice, and then disappears again.

Conservation officers have been contacted, but they will not get involved. We were told to “let nature take its course.”

That’s incredibly hard to accept when nature is not what caused these injuries.

We are NOT giving up. The only thing we can continue to do is track her in hopes of eventually securing her safely.

The longer this goes on, the more she will suffer and likely succumb to her injuries.

Edit to add: The area coyote travels most is the woods at Bluff City Minerals (rock quarry) and the neighborhood west of Rt 3.

Edit to add: Using a tranquilizer dart is not nearly as simple as it may sound.

First, we rarely know her exact location. A veterinarian would need to be present to administer the correct dosage and monitor the situation.

Even if she were successfully darted, tranquilizers do not work instantly. During that time, she could run deep into the woods or out of sight before the medication takes effect, making it extremely difficult to locate her again.

While drones can sometimes assist in tracking, they are not effective in dense wooded areas and cannot see through heavy cover. Unfortunately, without knowing her precise location, that option is also very limited.

We understand everyone wants to help, and we appreciate the concern. We are continuing to do everything we can to safely track and secure her.

If you see her, please contact us immediately with the exact location and time of sighting.

🐾 MICROCHIPS WORK! 🐾

Lady (Bella) escaped from her home, and thankfully a Good Samaritan found her and brought her to the Mascoutah Police Department.

They scanned her for a microchip and contacted us immediately. Within just a few minutes, Lady was safely reunited with her family! ❤️

A huge thank you to the Good Samaritan and Mascoutah Police Department for protecting our girl and taking the time to scan for a chip.

This is your reminder to:
✔️ Microchip your pets.
✔️ Keep your contact information updated.
✔️ Always scan found pets for a chip.

Her days of having puppies are behind her now, and she’s ready to experience what it means to be cared for, spoiled, and part of a real family.

About Buffy:

• Energetic & happy
• Lived with kids and dogs
• Cat indifferent (doesn’t care about them)
• More socialized than most breeder dogs
• House trained, will bark to let you know she needs outside

🐾 ADOPT SOPHIE 🐾

Sophie is looking for a special family that will understand her quirky personality.

She is a sweet, shy, happy girl who enjoys her people, but can be unsure with touch due to her unstable past.

She was left to navigate the world on her own far too often and allowed to roam the neighborhood without supervision. That kind of irresponsibility shaped how she sees the world today.

Sophie just needs patience, kindness, and time to learn that hands are safe. With a loving, patient home, she will truly blossom into the confident lovebug she’s meant to be.

🐾 Cairn terrier mix
🐾 7-8 years old, 15lbs
🐾 Dog & Cat friendly
🐾 Playful and the perfect balance of energetic and laid-back couch potato
🐾 No toddlers or rambunctious kids
🐾 House and crate trained
🐾 Shy at first meeting
🐾 Secure fenced yard required

If you can open your home to Sophie, please apply below!

From feral to friendly… and finally living the life she deserves! 🐾❤️

Just a few months ago, Jessie was absolutely terrified of everything.

She came to us as a stray, only for us to later learn she had an owner. Her first year of life was spent outside with little to no human interaction.

She even had a litter of puppies who went to 5A’s Humane Society. The plan was for Jessie to follow, but the shelter environment was just too overwhelming for her.

We were scrambling, unsure what to do… and then Cindy stepped up.

And wow, what a difference love and patience can make.

Cindy has worked tirelessly to show Jessie that people can be kind, safe, and loving. Watching her transformation has been nothing short of incredible.

Jessie has finally made the transition from living in the garage to indoors and she is absolutely loving it!

This is such a huge milestone for Jessie, and now she’s ready for her next big step: finding the forever family she deserves.

About Jessie:
• 1.5 years old
• 50 lbs
• Sweet, happy girl
• Shy at first but warms up with patience
• Playful
• Dog friendly
• Cats unknown
• House & Crate trained
• Secure fenced yard REQUIRED

Jessie will need a patient, understanding family willing to give her time to adjust, but once she trusts you, you’ll have a loyal, loving companion for life.

We cannot wait to see this girl get the happily ever after she’s worked so hard for. 💕

Jessie’s adoption fee is $300. This includes vaccinations, spay, microchip, heartworm test, wormer and maintaining preventions while in our care.
