Our FY26 Impact Report, "Let Sparks Fly!", is here! It highlights the stellar programs, projects, events and initiatives GEF supported this year - and over the past 20 years! - with the help of this incredibly generous community.

Check out the insane cover photo by GHS student Shane Widtfeldt. Thanks, Shane, and fellow sophomore Sam Watts, who is literally making sparks fly in the GHS Auto Shop! ✨🔥🎇

We hope the report inspires you to support GEF this spring, so we can in turn support the programs that make GPS so special. We can't do it without you.

Good for the beach, GREAT for Gloucester! Honored to be part of this effort to support Gloucester schools and GEF by our friends at Mark Adrian Shoes. Go get your bag - we're already loving ours, and the impact it's making for students!

We took down the marvelous middle and high school Spring into the Arts show at this morning, with help from GHS juniors Max and Kai (thanks, guys!).

Loved going through the guest book and seeing all of the comments from folks who enjoyed the artwork throughout the month of May, from all over Gloucester and well beyond. People were so inspired by the talent and creativity of GPS students, and thankful for the wonderful arts educators who guide them!

Now: suggestions on where this incredible weaving - made by all of YOU! - should be hung?

This morning we took a small group of GEF supporters to see the new Gloucester High School Medical Assisting program, led by teacher Grace Ferrara and Vocational Coordinator Brenda Waslick with support from three students.

One of the visitors, a Nurse Practitioner at Addison Gilbert, sent us this message right after: "Grace and the program are incredible!! It's truly fantastic; she has thought of everything. I came back to work and was telling some staff and one person immediately said "I wish they had that when I was at GHS!""

Music to our ears!

Thank you to Grace, Brenda and the students for the tour, to all of the visitors who came to see the program, and especially to Jim and Chris Barker of the JMR Barker Foundation for their advocacy and significant financial support for this new vocational track.

Yesterday a stellar class of Plum Cove Elementary School 5th graders - led by teacher Grace Scola - hosted GEF for a science class about photosynthesis and the food chain, featuring…LEGO!

GEF is funding a pilot across all four GPS elementary schools to use the newest LEGO Education kits for hands-on science lessons. We were wow’ed by Ms. Scola’s use of the kits to make the concepts the kids have been learning tangible, creative, and FUN. One of our board members said at the end of the session: “I WANT TO BE IN THIS CLASS!!”

Great job by Grades 3-8 STEM Coordinator Amy Donnelly in bringing this idea to elementary teachers last year, who have embraced it, and thank you to the GEF donors out there who make opportunities like this possible. We hope even more GPS teachers will use these kits next year!
