The Jeffie Foundation would like to congratulate Ania Tucker on the awarding of a lesson grant.

Ania is 11 years old and lives in Harwichport, Massachusetts. She rides at True North Farm under the expert tutelage of trainer Kay Slater. Ania found True North a few years ago and began to take weekly lessons. Once she fell in love with riding, she began to volunteer at the barn so that she could take a second lesson each week. She helps to feed and pick paddocks, taking particular pride in seeing how heavy she can make the wheelbarrow while still being able to dump it. Ania wrote, “this grant will help me to experience more riding and to teach me and my pony to give our best.” Ania has only been riding for two years, but is currently helping to introduce a former rodeo bucking bronco to eventing, an impressive and exciting feat. Ania says that her ultimate goal is “to teach my pony a new thing every day, even if it is a small thing.” We are incredibly excited to see how Ania progresses in her riding.

Congratulations, Ania!

The Jeffie Foundation would like to congratulate Claire Eiane on the awarding of a lesson grant.

Claire is 17 years old and lives in Brookline, New Hampshire. She says “from a young age I was always obsessed with horses...I would collect horse posters, stuffed animals and anything else that had horses on it.” She says that after many years of asking, she finally convinced her parents to let her attend pony camp and take lessons. A few years later, Claire started volunteering at Apple Tree Farm. She remembers that “soon after we began, [owner & trainer] Alison Eastman-Lawler was able to offer us lessons in exchange for our work. Since then, I have been able to work enough to cover lessons, trailering fees, coaching fees, and many free rides throughout each week.” This dedication is one of Claire’s foremost characteristics. Over the years she has developed and refined her goals. She mentions that for “the past year and a half, I have had the opportunity to ride and compete with a horse named Sam. I have had the best experience learning from him as I progress with my riding and as he enters the world of eventing. Although we have struggled along the way, and probably both been frustrated with each other, I’m finally starting to see things coming together.” Claire looks forward to using her grant money from The Jeffie Foundation to work specifically on dressage. Claire hopes that she and Sam can progress to the novice level of eventing within the next two years.

Congratulations Claire!

The Jeffie Foundation would like to congratulate Hannah Stec on the awarding of a lesson grant.

Hannah is an enthusiastic young woman who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to horses and riding over the past few years. Riding at Apple Tree Farm with owner & trainer Alison Eastman-Lawler for the past six years, Hannah has worked diligently to finance her love of riding. During the school year, Hannah works three times a week at Apple Tree, helping with everything from feeding, to mucking, to paddock picking. Alison mentions that Hannah’s help is crucial in her ability to keep the barn running smoothly. In return for her hard work, Hannah has been able to take lessons from Alison, and recently competed in her first USEA sanctioned event at Coursebrook farm. Hannah looks forward to using the grant money to improve her flatwork skills as well as her technical jumping skills. Most impressively, however, in her interview she stated, “I want to become a better rider for the horse I’m riding.” That quote, more than anything else sums up why we are proud to award Hannah this grant.

Congratulations Hannah!
