Breast Cancer Awareness Month is almost over, but cancer isn’t stopping. In our group photo, there are at least 2 BC survivors under 40, at least 2 young women with high risk, & a handful of people who know someone with a diagnosis.

We are the statistics. Right here.

Yes, young women get breast cancer. Yes, young women are less likely to know their risk, and yes, young women have to jump through more hoops to get medical care for their breasts. So yah, we ain’t fkn stopping.

Flash back to our DENVER event as apart of a 17 city campaign across the nation to raise funds, awareness, and support for women under 40.

“It only took you 7 years for it to be easy.” I started getting mammograms when I was 30. And every year has been difficult… until now.

I’ve jumped through every hurdle, faced every obstacle that can & will be thrown at an under 40yr old woman. My high risk of breast cancer never made a difference in my access to care. Because the system isn’t made for us.

I’ve almost given up every time. But because I’m the founder of a nonprofit that advocates for young women I knew I had to be an example.

So I’ve cried, I’ve fought, I’ve been placed on hold for too long, and I once had my appt cancelled because of my age — “well, we don’t go by the national cancer guidelines.”

But this month, my mammogram is scheduled. And it was easy. So, thank you to my OBGYN and medical staff for being on my side 🩷

Something I never imagined after helping my best friend going through breast cancer treatment…

Growing a small sticker fundraiser into a 501c3 nonprofit that serves nationwide.

Here I am almost 6yrs after selling that first T**s Deep sticker out of my snowboard jacket… writing checks to women under 40 battling breast cancer & navigating uncovered costs of breast imaging.

This week has been our biggest of giving; $9,280.50.
8 women in BC treatment receiving financial aid.
1 woman reimbursed for imaging.

Every day another young person will get told the words they never want to hear, “you have breast cancer.”

Every year young women’s breast cancer diagnosis’ are on the rise. And still, we are dismissed for our age. We are diagnosed at a later stage because our concerns aren’t taken seriously. And that becomes life threatening.

So, we continue to fight. We continue to raise funds to ease the burden that insurance companies aren’t willing to carry. And we provide support in ways that make young women feel seen, heard, and felt. Because the last thing we want is for cancer to take it all away. Your identity matters.

During the month of October Kari Traa is donating 10% of all US sales from their Pink Collection to T**s Deep.

Let’s help young women catch cancer early enough to be life saving 🩷

Maybe it’s not that we don’t wanna talk about it. Maybe it’s that it’s just too hard to start the conversation.

My whole life I searched for a way to relate. But, I just couldn’t find a single other person or a community that would understand.

So my story remained silent. Burrowing inside of me. When people asked where my mom lived I would just say she passed away from breast cancer when I was 2, people would feel awkward or say sorry, and we would move on.

But, when my best friend got diagnosed in 2020, what I didn’t know would become a 501c3 non profit by simply helping her and “selling t**s deep stickers”, became a platform for my voice + advocacy. But, more importantly, it has become an outlet for others to feel seen, heard, & supported.

Today is the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Over the next few weeks Breast Cancer will be everywhere. It will trigger some. It will be a way for others to express themselves more openly. And it will also raise eyebrows when people aren’t sure where there donations are going.

But for us, BCAM is a way for us to rally harder. To reach more people in a positive way. To remember those whose lives were lost to BC. And to drive more force for good. We look forward to our collaborations with Girl, Get After It ® & Kari Traa across 17 cities, our partnership with CancerBikeOut in Bend, OR on 10/3, & our double-denim Gene Party on 10/9 in Carbondale, CO at Mountain Heart Brewing alongside Boot Tan Festival.

All funds raised will support young women’s breast cancer treatment.
