Carbondale Annual Potato Day Celebrate the harvest with us! More details on the event page. Join us on October 4th! Potato Day is the longest running annual community event in Carbondale!

We have a parade down Main Street and a festival in Sopris Park that offers a farmers market, community meal, harvest bar, kids activities, live entertainment and more! Since 1909, local farming and ranching families have kept the tradition alive. Events include a parade, BBQ, live music, farm market, and kids’ activities in Sopris Park, downtown Carbondale.

Be part of the harvest festival! We have literally 1,000s of locally grown corn and potatoes to wrap in foil for the Potato Day barbecue on Saturday, Oct 4th!!!

Potato Day is this coming Saturday! Don't miss this 116 year old Carbondale tradition. This year's theme is the Grate Spudsby, commemorating the 100th anniversary of F. Scott Fitszgerald's novel; The Great Gatsby. So it's the Roaring Twenties!
Dress up in costume. Create a themed Parade Float. Run the Tater Trot. Enter the Biggest Potato Contest. Drink Cowboy Coffee. Shop the Farmer's Market. Play Traditional Kids Games. Listen to Music. Dance. But most of all, enjoy a community cooked meal of bbq meat, potatoes and sides! And have a "GRATE" Potato Day!

Friday, October 3rd
5:00 PM - 9:00 PM - Carbondale Historical Society Membership Drive Kick-Off Party at True Nature, ticketed event
Saturday, October 4th

8:30 AM - 10:30 AM - Carbondale Rotary Club Pancake Breakfast
Location: Chacos Park (4th & Main Streets)
Cost: $10 regular, $15 for potato pancakes

8:00 AM - 9:30 AM - Aspen Valley Land Trust Pre-tato Promenade
Location: Coffman Ranch
Cost: FREE event but registration is required, contact Carly Bolliger at [email protected] or 970-963-8440

9:00 AM - "Tater Trot" 1-Mile Fun Run
Location: Chacos Park, Registration begins 8:30 AM
Cost: FREE, Roaring 20s costumes encouraged! Top runners win sacks of potatoes

9:00 AM - 3:00 PM - Farmers Market, Family Activities & Cowboy Coffee
Location: Sopris Park
Cost: FREE and open to the public. Fresh produce, artisan goods, games,
activities with community partners and historical copper cauldron coffee.

10:30 AM - Potato Day Parade
Theme: "The Grate Spudsby" - Judges award prizes to Parade Floats based on theme relevance, originality, workmanship and crowd appeal. Pre-registration required, contact [email protected]

11:15 AM - Until we run out of food - Community Harvest Lunch
Location: Sopris Park
Cost: $20 adults, $15 children under 12; Locally sourced and prepared meat and sides, and of course, potatoes.
1:00 PM - Parade Winners & Largest Potato Contest Announcements

12:15pm-1:00pm - Kids Games
Prizes, Potato sack races, Hot Potato and a Piñata
Location: Sopris Park
Cost: FREE

11:00 AM - 4:30 PM - Live Music Programming
Location: Sopris Park Main Stage
Cost: FREE; Featuring KDNK DJ tribute to Art Ackerman (11-1), Lucky Drive (130-3) and live Contra Dance with Caller (3-430)
Harvest bar and non alcoholic drinks will be available by donation

Potato Days is undergoing a transformation and bringing back the Roaring 20s. The theme this year is the Grate Spudsby in honor of the 100 year anniversary of the Great Gatsby!

Our beloved 116th Harvest Festival is now a fundraiser to support the agricultural community! All 2025 proceeds from the Community Meal, Harvest Bar, festival t-shirts and event sponsors will go to Seed Peace - Casey's Fund Supporting Farmers! More info at www.seedpeacce.org
