A huge thank you to Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park for hosting the 2nd Annual Multi-Chamber Networking Event earlier this month!
Carbondale Chamber members had the opportunity to connect with more than 250 fellow Chamber members from across the region, building new relationships and strengthening regional partnerships.

And yes, we even rode on the Defiance roller coaster, including its jaw-dropping 102.3-degree freefall, the steepest drop on a roller coaster in the Western U.S.!
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event such a success.

New Member Alert! 🥳

Formed in the summer of 2025 by Will Hollomon, Pika Coffee Company started as a pipe dream! The initial concept was born out of a four month thru-hike in New Zealand trekking the Te Araroa, where a morning Flat White became a routine and always provided comfort before long, difficult days of hiking. While exploring New Zealand, Will also noticed that you could get a very good cup of coffee in the middle of nowhere, be it at a trailhead, a small-town cafe or out of a mobile trailer or van! Thus, the idea was born to bring simple but good coffee to the Roaring Fork Valley through a mobile trailer concept. In June 2025, Will's father joined the project, helping Will find a 1953 Crown travel trailer on Facebook marketplace out in Paonia and promptly beginning a 6-month process of converting it to a full espresso café on wheels. They did all the work themselves, fitting sinks, cabinets, plumbing and electrical to bring the concept to life! The goal of Pika Coffee Co. is to bring very good coffee to the Roaring Fork Valley through pop ups, farmers markets, catering events, and semipermanent spots from Aspen to Glenwood Springs!

Congratulations to the Middle School Students who Competed in the National Civics Bee Regional Competition on April 30 in Carbondale!

Middle school students from the Greater Roaring Fork Valley competed in the 2026 National Civics Bee® regional competition on April 30 at Carbondale Middle School. The event was hosted by the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce and Youthentity, in partnership with the Colorado Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the Daniels Fund and the Civic Trust of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

Students competed with their peers in a live quiz event and answered questions from judges to test their civics knowledge. The top three finalists from the Carbondale competition will have the chance to participate in the state-level competition hosted by the Colorado Chamber of Commerce in Denver on July 24, 2026. The Colorado state champion will advance to the National Civics Bee competition in Washington, D.C. in Fall 2026, to compete for the national title.

“Bringing the National Civics Bee to the Greater Roaring Fork Valley reflects our shared commitment to preparing young people to be informed, engaged, and confident participants in civic life,” said Andrea Stewart, President & CEO of the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce. “By partnering with Youthentity and the U.S. Chamber Foundation, we’re creating meaningful opportunities for students to explore real community issues, strengthen civic understanding, and see how their voices can make a difference.”

“At Youthentity, we believe young people should feel empowered to understand their communities and take part in shaping their future,” said Kris Freeman, Executive Director of Youthentity. “The National Civics Bee provides a powerful platform for middle school students to develop civic knowledge, think critically about local issues, and be recognized for leadership at an early age.”

We’re excited to invite you to an inspiring evening celebrating local middle school students, including these students from Glenwood Springs Middle School, as they step up to share their ideas and test their civics knowledge at the Greater Roaring Fork Valley’s very first Regional Civics Bee! This event is proudly sponsored by the Adolph Coors Foundation, Alpine Bank, Aspen Public Radio, and the Daniels Fund.

Participating 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students from Basalt, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, Rifle, and Steamboat Springs will showcase their knowledge for a chance to win recognition and cash prizes. The top three finalists will advance to the Colorado State Civics Bee, with the opportunity to compete at the National Championship in Washington, DC this Fall 2026.

Youthentity and the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, are hosting a nonpartisan civics competition that encourages students to engage in civic life and contribute to their communities.
