Hi there, I'm Beans, and I am a young sweet little guy!

I like both dogs and cats, but if the cat runs, I will gladly chase, otherwise I will pay them no mind.

My foster reports that I appear to be house trained, am good on leash and want to be near my person all of the time. I will bark if you leave me; I am still understandably traumatized from being abandoned. So, if you have the time to help me settle in and be your new best buddy, apply today.

Looking for big, true love?
Fiona is a beautiful 5 year old spayed Bernese Mountain Dog and Great Pyrenees mix weighing approximately 90 pounds. She has a soft coat, a gentle spirit, and a deeply loving personality.

Fiona absolutely adores people and loves to cuddle and stay close to her human, making her a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal shadow.

Fiona is calm, well-behaved, and easy to live with. She is fully housebroken, has free roam of the house, and does not chew or destroy items. She walks nicely on leash, rides well in the car, and knows basic commands including sit and stand. Her overall energy level is medium.

Fiona needs to be the only dog in the home, as she does not do well with other dogs. She has mild separation anxiety and therefore would be best in a home where people are available to her most of the time. She is also fearful of thunderstorms and fireworks. Fiona prefers not to be crated or penned, as confinement increases her anxiety.

Fiona is healthy, up to date on vaccines, and recently groomed for the summer months!

Fiona has experienced several home transitions through no fault of her own, and we are committed to finding her a stable, loving foster or forever home where she can truly thrive.

Fiona’s ideal home
• Only pet household
• Calm, quiet environment
• Someone home most of the time
• Adults only, or a home with teenage children

💙Adopt a Bonded Pair💖

Vee (female) and her sibling Karter (male) have been waiting for the right home for a while. While they are the sweetest dogs and get along great with other dogs, they are unfortunately very wary of people.

This special pair are looking for a farm or a home with a large fenced yard where they can continue to enjoy their lives together. They are 60 pounds and only 6 years old.

This special pair are super gentle and likely fine with cats or other farm animals.

Come support our incredible volunteer, Yoon Nah Cho! 🎶🎻

Around the sanctuary, Yoon gives so much heart, warmth, and care to our animals—and next weekend, she’ll be sharing her extraordinary musical gift with the community!

She is performing on cello alongside an amazing ensemble of artists in the Faculty Concert Series: Dialogues for Strings & Piano at Howard Community College. The program features a gorgeous selection of strings and piano, concluding with the fiery, virtuosic Dvořák Piano Quintet.

Let’s fill the hall with familiar, friendly faces to cheer on one of our own!

Sanctuary life takes a village, and our Saturday crew is pure gold!
💛🐴

Danny was all smiles (and thoroughly pampered) soaking up the pasture sunshine with some of our wonderful volunteers this weekend. From brushing coats and mucking stalls to endless chin scratches, our animals are thriving because of hands and hearts like these.

To everyone who gives their time, energy, and love to keep the sanctuary running: thank you. We truly couldn’t do it without you!

Meet the "Mr. Garvey" litter! We were found abandoned on a farm, but we didn’t let that disrupt our education. Now we’re officially ready to graduate straight into our forever homes!
Before you step up, ask yourself: Can you pronounce our names correctly, or are we gonna have to send you down to Principal O'Shag-Hennesy’s office?

The Buddy System is strictly required: Because we are babies who need feline socialization, every adoption requires another kitten or cat already in the home, or you can adopt both of us together! Two kittens mean double the cuddles, double the purrs, and half the mischief.
