The Garland Chamber supports a YES vote in Garland's tax rate election.

A YES vote means approximately $11 million in annual funding to help maintain City services and address high-priority needs, particularly public safety, while Garland's overall property tax rate would still go down. For the business community, it's an investment in the safe, strong community our businesses, employees and families depend on.

Make your voice heard. Vote YES.

You may see “THIS IS A TAX INCREASE” on Garland's Nov. 3 ballot.

So why are we saying the overall property tax rate would go down?

Texas law generally limits annual growth in the City’s operating property tax revenue to 3.5% without voter approval. Because the proposal would allow operating property tax revenue to increase beyond that limit, the ballot must include the required “THIS IS A TAX INCREASE” language.

But Garland's debt-service rate would decrease by more than the operations rate would increase.

The result: the City's overall property tax rate would still decline by approximately one cent from the 2025 rate.

Before you vote, understand the full proposal. Vote YES for a Safe, Strong Garland.

A YES vote would provide approximately $11 million in additional annual funding to maintain City services and address high-priority needs.

But here's something else Garland voters should know:
The City's overall property tax rate would still go down.

With a YES vote, the overall rate would decline from approximately 69 cents in 2025 to approximately 68 cents.

Garland's declining debt payments make this possible, allowing the City to use a portion of those savings for critical service needs while still lowering the overall rate.

Maintain essential services. Invest in public safety. Vote YES on Nov. 3.
