Texas Peace Officer Flag Fund Texas honors to be provided to the families of deceased Texas peace officers

We provide funding for Texas honors to be provided to the families of deceased Texas peace officers. At the death of an eligible peace officer a Texas Flag and letters of appreciation from the Texas Governor and the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement are presented to the deceased family.

Texas Department of Public Safety, Trooper Daniel Robert Shown, 66, passed away February 27, 2026 from complications directly resulting from a line-of-duty injury. On Dec. 16, 1988, Trooper Shown was struck in the forehead by a bullet while responding to a call, resulting in the loss of his right eye and permanent paralysis on one side. He is survived by his sister Betty Rice; his brother Tom Yarbrough (Sheryl); his sisters Diana Sauter (Allen) and Rachel Dunn (David).

On January 4th, 2026, Deputy Constable Aaron Armstrong was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a man at Club Rodeo in Austin. He had served with the Caldwell County Constable's Office - Precinct 3 for over one year and previously served with the Smithville Police Department. He is survived by his father, James J. Armstrong; his mother, Stephanie Layne Wiley Armstrong; his brother, Jason Armstrong; and sister-in-law, Tiffany Armstrong.

Houston Police Officer Alex Roberts (38) died in a traffic accident during a traffic es**rt on Sept. 17, 2025. He was assigned to the Traffic Enforcement Division, Solo Motorcycle Detail. Officer Roberts had been with the Department over 14 years and was well respected. Our prayers go out to his family.

The Angleton Police Department is mourning the loss of police officer Sgt. J.D. White. He died in the line of duty on Sunday, June 1, 2025. White was es**rting a funeral procession when he was struck by a vehicle. He was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, but didn't survive. He had been with the department 19 years. He is survived by three children and four grandchildren.
