This Father's Day, we're celebrating a downtown father-and-son team whose bond has been shaped by family, craftsmanship, and decades of working side by side.
Jason has been around the business for as long as he can remember. As a young boy, his father, Gary, set up a small workbench for him in the family workshop, giving him simple tasks and allowing him to learn the trade at his own pace. Over the years, those small lessons turned into a lifelong passion. What began as a father teaching his son eventually grew into a partnership built on trust, respect, and a shared commitment to their craft.
One of the most remarkable parts of their story is that Gary never pressured Jason to follow in his footsteps. Like his other children, Jason was given the freedom to pursue any path he wanted. Yet after exploring other opportunities and experiencing different workplaces, he realized his passion was right where it had always been, working alongside his father.
Today, the pair spends their days creating jewelry, solving problems, sharing lunch, and often laughing together while they work. They admit there are occasional disagreements, but both have learned that family and business work best when respect comes first. As Jason put it, when tensions arise, they move on quickly and focus on what matters most.
Professionally, they have developed a partnership that allows each of them to shine. Gary and Jason have spent years refining their skills and finding their strengths, creating a business where each complements the other. Gary describes Jason as irreplaceable and an essential part of everything they do. Jason, meanwhile, says one of the greatest gifts of working with his father is knowing there is always someone in his corner, someone willing to teach, support, and help him through any challenge.
What stands out most is the admiration they have for each other. Gary spoke proudly about watching Jason grow from a shy young boy into a skilled craftsman and trusted business partner. Jason reflected on his father's determination, saying he has always admired his father's ability to set a goal and never give up until it is accomplished.
For Gary, being a father is one of the greatest accomplishments of his life. For Jason, Father's Day is an opportunity to recognize not only the father who raised him, but the mentor who helped shape the man he has become. Together, they have built something that extends far beyond a successful business. They have built a family legacy, one reflected in the relationships they've created, the values they've shared, and the jewelry that customers proudly wear throughout the community.
This Father's Day, help us celebrate Gipson Diamond Jewelers and the special bond that can exist when family, hard work, and mutual respect come together.
