The Western Kansas Community Foundation (WKCF) Board of Directors has named Dr. Katie Reck as the incoming Executive Director. She will succeed Conny Bogaard, who is retiring on June 30, 2026.

Dr. Reck officially begins her role on June 22, 2026. She joins us from Seward County Community College, where she served as the Director of Adult Education. With an extensive background in nonprofit leadership, grant management, and community collaboration, the WKCF board is confident in her ability to strengthen the Foundation's commitment to rural philanthropy. We look forward to this new chapter for Western Kansas! 🎉

🎉 As we continued celebrating the 30th birthday of the Foundation by giving, we spread the love to two foundations this week! First on Tuesday, to High Plains Heritage Foundation, to support Seward and Stevens counties with $2,000 each. And this morning, to the Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas to serve Gray County. Ryan Ausmus, Executive Director with CFSK, shared that they intend for these grant funds to go to the City of Montezuma, AND CFSK is providing a matching grant, all to go toward replacing a slide at the Montezuma playground. Congratulations all! 🥳

We can’t say thank you enough to everyone that helped us celebrate the Foundation’s 30th birthday, and that goes double for everyone that helped us get to where we are. From a small group of founders with a vision for local philanthropy, to supporters and partners across the region, you make it easy to love what we do. Here’s to many more years of partnership in supporting these amazing communities and causes we cherish! Special thanks to Garden City Area Chamber of Commerce for the special ribbon cutting, and De La Torre Creations and Flourish Herbals & Aromatherapy for the party treats and drinks!

On this Memorial Day, we honor and remember the servicemen and women who gave their lives in service of our country. We recognize not just the sacrifice made by those individuals but also that of their families.

You may have heard… 🎉TODAY is the WKCF’s 30th birthday 🎉 !!! In honor of that milestone, we decided to do what we do best, awarding grants to others! Over the next few months, we’ll be distributing some celebratory grants across our service area to organizations we know will work alongside us for the betterment of Southwest Kansas. First stop on the list was to Lakin Community Empowerment Group to provide funding for projects across Kearny County. Congratulations and Happy Birthday to us! 🎂
