Genesis Family Health (GFH) formerly known as United Methodist Western Kansas Mexican American Ministries, Inc., is a non-profit corporation based in Garden City, Kan. Since 1974, GFH has fostered mission-driven outreach to people of all races, ages and faiths, and, today, offers a comprehensive array of social, spiritual, educational, medical and dental programs to improve the quality of life of

underserved individuals and families across western Kansas. GFH operates a network of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), also referred to as Community Health Centers (CHCs), offering outpatient medical care by highly skilled, compassionate Family Medicine practitioners in Garden City, Dodge City, Liberal and Ulysses to a diverse and largely indigent patient population. Services include illness and injury treatment, wellness and preventive care, OB/GYN, immunizations, behavioral health and health education. Pharmacy and lab services are also offered onsite, as well as certified Patient Navigators dedicated to helping patrons “navigate” the Affordable Care Act and online Health Insurance Marketplace. CHC services are rendered in both English and Spanish with interpreters available for Low German, Burmese and Somali patients. GFH’s accomplished and caring team of dentists and hygienists provides a full range of preventative, restorative and emergency care for patients of all ages at clinics in Garden City and Dodge City. Outreach services, including basic exams, cleaning and other routine care, are provided at public schools, health fairs and community events across southwest Kansas through the Lifetime Smiles program. GFH’s Community Care Centers comprise facilities in Garden City, Dodge City, Liberal and Ulysses with outreach offices in Satanta and Johnson, Kan. Care Center personnel, led by Community Developers stationed in four counties, help meet basic needs for those facing various hardships through local food pantries, clothes closets, financial assistance, immigration services, citizenship training and other outreach in partnership with many churches, businesses, philanthropic organizations and citizen volunteers across western Kansas. Our dedicated Care Center staff also administers a host of specialized education, wellness and disease prevention initiatives, made possible by state and local funding support, including Early Detection Works, Parents as Teachers, Healthy Living in Kansas, and, Southwest Kansas Diabetes. GFH is very grateful for the ongoing generosity of numerous churches, charities, businesses, community groups, families and individuals whose financial support and volunteerism allow us to forward the mission of our founding visionaries of the United Methodist Church - “to do Christ’s work in the world” by serving our neighbors in need throughout western Kansas.
