✨JUST JOSH STORY #12✨

By: Adelynn Smith (Josh’s daughter)

When I was like five or so, me and my friends, Serenity and Shae, went on a daddy/daughter date thing with my Dad, Uncle Josh (Serenity’s dad) and Tyler (Shae’s dad.) I remember that I hadn’t seen Dad in a while, and he took me on that day, because I was saying that I wanted to see him and spend time with him. So he planned that whole thing just for me! I told him “what if we invite them?” He was hesitant at first, because he thought that it was just me, that wanted to go, but then once he understood that I wanted them to go too, he was all about it! He was so excited, we had planned it for days and whenever it finally came he was so happy to be there with me! That was “Just Josh (Dad)”

✨JUST JOSH STORY #11✨

By: Linda McDonald (Josh’s shopping Grama)

I remember one summer when Josh was visiting he wanted me to take him to see the Kansas State football stadium. We drove to Manhattan in my competition orange 1971 Volkswagen bug & I drove around the stadium a few times so he could see everything. Josh said he really wished he could walk out on the field, so being a cool Grama I found a gate that was opened enough that we could squeeze through & we walked out and stood in the middle of the field. We were both pretty proud of ourselves for sneaking in. There was a football sled on the field & Josh said “ Hey Grama watch me push it.” He took off running & hit the sled as hard as he could. The sled never moved an inch and Josh flew over backwards on his butt. We both laughed so hard we were crying. Then he decided we needed to go to the bleachers & climb the steps to the top of the stadium & so we did. All the while he’s turning around saying “Come on Grama” as I’m huffing & puffing my way up. Needless to say he beat me. It was such a fun day spent together. We laughed so hard. That was “Just Josh”

✨JUST JOSH STORY #10✨

By: Charlie Smith (Josh’s Dad)

It was Josh’s 21st birthday and he was living in Wichita, going to college. I drove up from Oklahoma to celebrate with him. Josh had gotten a little Rottweiler/Lab mix puppy from the shelter that he was hiding in his apartment. When I arrived, I asked him what I could do for his birthday. He asked me, “Could you pay the deposit for me to have the puppy?” He had named her Carmen, after Carmen Electra. Of course I said “yes” and we went down to the office and made Carmen legal. Later, we went out to eat, we played pool (he won, lol) and I drank a beer with my son because that was “Just Josh.”

✨JUST JOSH STORY #9✨

By: James Everett (Josh’s Dad)

Josh was at college in Dodge City, his mom and I were there because he was failing some classes and not showing up to football practice. He’s mumbling to us as we’re walking across campus, and when I look over at him, I notice he has a $300-$400 jacket, nice shirt, baseball hat, and Nike Air Jordan’s on. I just had my work clothes and boots on, looking like a bum. I told him “ You look like a million bucks, but probably don’t have a dime in your pocket, what’s the deal?!” He responds in true Josh mumble “ I dunno.” Next thing I know, these two cute girls come walking up “Heyyyyy Josh!!!” All of a sudden, Josh speaks VERY clearly “ Hey girls! What’s going on?”

😳😳😳“OH MY GOD! HE SPEAKS?!?!” I thought to myself. They have a conversation about where the party is that night and he says he’ll see them later. “What the f*ck?!?!” I ask him and instantly he’s back to mumbling and Josh says “huh?” I told him “You can speak???” and he goes “ Uh…well..I dunno.” 🤷‍♂️ 😂

We finally get to his classroom and walk in. I tell the teacher “Hi, I’m James Everett, I’m here with my son Joshua Smith and we’d like to know why he’s failing.” The teacher says “Well, hello Mr. Smith, welcome to my class, this would be the….third time you’ve attended?” 😬😬😬 I asked Josh why he didn’t just drop the class so it didn’t show up on his transcript and in true Josh style, he mumbled “I dunno…” but that was “Just Josh” 💚

✨JUST JOSH STORY #8✨

By Joe (Josh’s Brother in Law)

Way back when I first started dating Caitlin (Josh’s sister) I was just getting to know Josh, though he was not a big fan of anybody dating his little sister. I got invited to a 4th of July BBQ, Josh LOVED the Fourth, which later in the evening turned into a poker game. Caitlin was ready to go home before the game started and Josh asked if I’d like to stay and play, I told myself this is a chance to make a good impression! Caitlin kissed me goodbye and told me to call her when I was ready…. she didn’t even make 3 blocks when I called and told her I lost all my money to Josh on the first hand…needless to say Josh invited me to every poker game after that lol

That was “Just Josh”

✨JUST JOSH STORY #7✨

By Kim (Josh’s Mom)

Joshua played all sports but his passion in High School was football. I went to every single game, home games and out of town. I lived in Garden City so they were all out of town games for me. Besides watching him play, my favorite part was after the game. I took tons of sandwiches with me every single time, for Josh and any teammates that were hungry. They were all hungry! 😄😄 But no matter what Josh always kissed me after every single game!! Yes, on the lips!🫠🫠🫠🥰🥰🥰He never cared who saw him or if anybody teased him because that was "Just Josh",Momma's Boy ❤️

✨JUST JOSH STORY #6✨

By Caitlin (Josh’s Sister)

Josh and I spent a lot of time at the pool as kids. Josh was basically a fish, always jumping off the diving boards, and I was there to socialize 🤗 but it never failed, all the girls (even some of my friends) would eventually line up on the edge of the deep end and sit there watching Josh jump and flip, just hoping he’d splash them or give them any sort of attention. It didn’t matter which pool in what town we went to, once they realized I knew Josh or figured out I was his little sister, here they came asking if I’d give him their numbers or if I could get him to talk to them…the answer was always “NO” or “Give it to him yourself.” I wasn’t there to hook you up, I was working on my tan 🤣 Perks of being the little sister I guess, but that was “Just Josh” 💚
