Keep Hall Beautiful KHB works to foster a healthy and balanced community. All of these projects could not happen without our volunteers and our members.

Keep Hall Beautiful is a non-profit, 501(c)3 and serves as the local certified affiliate of the national Keep America Beautiful system, as well as a state affiliate with Keep Georgia Beautiful. A community we want our kids to grow up in, where businesses want to develop, to be a flourishing community that attracts visitors, & a community where we are proactively environmentally friendly. dicated to educating citizens about environmental stewardship, providing both traditional and non-traditional recycling opportunities, developing and fostering collaborative relationships with local and surrounding area organizations who support similar goals and missions, as well as providing a much needed community service program which is focused on local roadside clean-ups as well as illegal dumpsite removal. Through our volunteer projects, citizens of Hall County can be involved in community clean-ups, beautification efforts, recycling days, & special events.

When we think of beauty, we think of clean streets, sparkling water, and bountiful gardens. That's why one of our guiding initiatives focuses on beautification of our community, to aid in the appreciation of the environment around us. Parks, lakes, and public spaces are much more inviting when cared for by amazing people.

This focus has inspired new programs, like the Green School Initiative, to foster awareness and understanding of our environment in classrooms. We also support planting projects, lead garden tours, and gather volunteers for community projects. We are ALL for HALL!

Find out more about the KHB Green School Initiative. It's totally FREE for schools and teachers to participate. Get rewarded for all environmental lessons, outdoor activities, field trips, and school-wide programs and receive benefits from us like in-class field trips, resources, training, and materials.

Alongside them, KHB provides educational programs about recycling to schools and groups across the county. Did you know that anyone can schedule a tour of the Recycling Center? Waste reduction encompasses everything from e-waste recycling, to upcycling, and little habit changes in between. We are committed to providing opportunities for our community to reduce waste in their daily lives.

Keep Hall Beautiful is a part of the Bring One for the Chipper program, where Christmas trees are recycled after the holidays, and has sponsored many recycling related events to keep waste out of the landfill.

This week, we're sharing our main motives at Keep Hall Beautiful. At our core, the environment and its care moves us. We do that by focusing our initiatives around 4 key ideas. Follow along this week as we share more about what we do!

It's estimated by Keep America Beautiful that nearly 35 billion pieces of litter are floating around at any moment in the US. That's 96 pieces of litter per person. We know we can do better, so we support efforts to clean up streets and waterways across Hall County. We organize local clean ups and work with concerned citizens to set up clean ups in their neighborhoods. We also love participating in local events like Shore Sweep with the Lake Lanier Association.

Cleaning up litter just feels good! Join us soon at one of the following clean ups:
-Saturday, September 12 @ Mountain View Park, 8-10am
-Tuesday, September 15 @ Engine 209 Park, 4pm + Give Back Night @ Vendetti's Gainesville

Way to go, Hall County! When we recycle, we not only contribute to the creation of new materials, we also are caring for existing infrastructure, like our landfill. When we divert waste from the landfill, it decreases pollution, saves natural resources, and extends the life of facilities, benefits for our county and all citizens!

Caring for our environment first requires us to know and understand it. Teachers and schools are a vital piece of furthering environmental education for a better future. Through the Green School Initiative of Keep Hall Beautiful, teachers and schools can receive FREE support throughout the year. Need help setting up a garden, sourcing seeds, organizing a school wide clean up, or setting up new processes like recycling and composting? Teachers and schools can join the Green School Initiative and gain a trusted partner in their environmental efforts.

We are excited to host quarterly clean ups in downtown Gainesville in partnership with Vendetti’s Gainesville!

Meet us at 4pm to get your clean up supplies at Engine 209 Park. We are aiming to pick up 500 pounds of trash! Let’s do this!! 🗑️

Afterwards, grab a pizza at Vendetti’s (or anytime that day) to benefit KHB. A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to our community efforts. Thank you, Vendetti’s! They are also generously offering a free slice of pizza to any kid under 12 that participates in the clean up. 🍕

🚬 Most cigarette filters are made of plastic… and they're the most littered item in America.

The good news? Our 2026 National Litter Study found that cigarette butt litter decreased by 62% between 2020 and 2025.

That's meaningful progress, and a testament to the impact of education, prevention, and community action through initiatives like Keep America Beautiful's Cigarette Litter Prevention & Recycling Program (CLPR), which has helped communities reduce cigarette litter by up to 50%.

But the work isn't over. More than 3.8 billion cigarette butts still remain littered across the US at any given time, where they can break down into microplastics and release harmful chemicals into our environment.
