Adventures In Missions (Adventures) is an interdenominational missions organization that focuses on discipleship. We emphasize prayer and relationships in our work among the poor. Since Adventures was established in 1989, we have taken 80,000 people to the mission field, some for a year or longer. Through our 14 bases around the world, we have year-round ministry to places where “the least of these” are found. We believe that by giving people the opportunity to hold orphans, bring hope to the hopeless, and pray for the sick, lives are transformed. We seek to disciple as Jesus did – our vision is that God would use us to raise up a generation of radically committed disciples of Jesus Christ!

MONDAY BASE HIGHLIGHT: CAMBODIA 🇰🇭

Every week, nearly 120 kids show up to learn at each of our village homesites in Cambodia. It all starts with a handful of women who said yes to opening their homes.

Meet our village hosts.

🏡 Kohl Village: Mao and her daughter have welcomed our team onto their property for about five years. Mao greets us with a smile every Monday and is so proud of her grandkids, who are some of our best students.
🏡 Khvav Village: Three hosts let us build covered teaching areas on their land so kids have a shady, dry place to learn. All three now sit in our adult class, and all three have come to know Jesus.
🏡 Kchas Village: During Covid, this host family built a huge roof over their property so class could move off their small front porch. Their sacrifice changed what’s possible for these kids.
🏡 Roka Village: God provided land here, and we’ve watched our neighbors come to Jesus one by one.

Through these friendships, all but one of our hosts has come to know Jesus. 🙌

And now we have a good problem: we’ve outgrown every one of these spaces. The kids keep coming, and the team is looking for ways to expand.

Ask someone in Guatemala, "What is a missionary?" and most wouldn't think to answer, "I am."
Our Guatemala base is praying and working to change that.

BASE HIGHLIGHT: GUATEMALA

SERVE. Two CarePoints, in Parrojas and Parramos, where kids and families receive clean water, healthy meals, and discipleship. Parrojas has an English Academy. Parramos has a soccer program. The team also installs stoves and water filters in homes that have been cooking over open fires.

DISCIPLE. Weekly Bible studies, Beauty for Ashes gatherings where women trade shame for the freedom of His grace, and discipleship for the World Race and Gap Year squads who come through.

SEND. Hineni means "Here I am" in Hebrew. It's a one-month program helping Latinos step into their calling in missions. Guatemalan teams have now been sent to five continents, and a House of Prayer on base is interceding for laborers to go to the unreached.

How you can come alongside:
- Sponsor a child for $45 a month (food, clean water, and discipleship)
- Bring your church, friends, or family for a week
- Pray with the team for wisdom, provision, and courage

Within a few months, she lost the two people closest to her.

In April, Laura's sister — also her business partner — died suddenly. In July, her husband died. By the time she arrived at a Beauty for Ashes retreat in Costa Rica, the grief was still so fresh.

During the Healed Heart session, the women were invited to ask God to bring to mind a painful memory He wanted to meet them in. Laura broke down. The women around her could have rushed to fix the moment — instead, they gave her space to sit with the Lord.

Then came a simple question: Where was Jesus?

As she prayed, Laura began to see Him in the story she'd been carrying — walking beside her, grieving with her, never leaving her alone in her pain. Nothing about the losses had changed. But she was beginning to understand she had never been abandoned.

By graduation, something was different. Her team described her as peaceful and unburdened — a picture of God's gentle restoration.

That's the sacred space Beauty for Ashes creates in Costa Rica. We walk alongside women carrying grief, brokenness, and stories that still feel unfinished — not with easy answers, but with room to encounter Jesus. And you get to be there — to listen, pray, share your own story, and witness the tender ways God meets His daughters.

You don't have to know exactly what to say. Sometimes the greatest gift is simply helping her discover Jesus was there all along.

When a team from Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church arrived in Bingham, Maine, they came ready to work. Helping build a tiny home, stacking firewood for a woman named Rita, leading VBS, praying with people along the way.

Then they met Jeff.

Jeff is living with stage four cancer. What struck the team wasn't just the weight of his diagnosis, it was the way he talked about it. In the middle of so much uncertainty, Jeff still trusts God's plan for his life. They came to Maine to encourage others and found themselves encouraged by him.

After that, the projects became less about getting the work done and more about knowing the people they were serving. Kids at VBS who started the week shy and homesick ended it laughing and running to greet the team. Prayers got braver. And the moments they'll remember aren't the finished projects. They're the stories people trusted them enough to share.

Maine trips are booking now for November and into December, then again starting March 2027. And if Maine isn't the right fit, we have domestic trips across the country.

In Guatemala, 1 in 20 children under five dies from water-related sickness. Read that again.

The water in many communities carries bacteria and parasites, and for families living below the poverty line, clean water feels out of reach.

Here's the good news: a $45 water filter provides up to 150 gallons of clean water a day, for more than 10 years. That's less than a penny a day to protect the children in an entire home.

Our team in Guatemala comes alongside local pastors and leaders, serving communities with practical tools like these while making disciples who carry the Gospel forward.

What if you said yes together? 🤍

There are things you know about your mom — or your daughter — simply because you've shared so much life. Her quirks. What makes her laugh. The ordinary Tuesdays and the big milestones.

But there are parts of her you may have never gotten to see. What does her faith look like sitting across from a woman whose life is nothing like her own? How does she respond when someone trusts her with a hard story? What gifts come alive when she realizes God can use her to encourage someone else?

This February, Beauty for Ashes is creating a rare opportunity for mothers and adult daughters to serve side by side in Guatemala. You'll partner with local ministry leaders to create space for women to experience the hope and healing of Jesus — listening, praying, and sharing your own stories as God leads.

You'll arrive as mother and daughter. You'll also get to serve as sisters in Christ.

You don't need a perfect relationship. You don't need matching personalities or matching luggage. Just a willingness to serve together and trust God with both the ministry in front of you and the relationship beside you.

A team from Nappanee Missionary Church spent a week serving in Chicago. Food pantry shifts, prayer walks, worship with local churches, and an afternoon at a veterans home.

At the veterans home they didn't build anything or solve anybody's problem. They sat with residents, listened to their stories, and gave them their full attention. As the team was leaving, one veteran passionately asked them to come back.

A few hours of real connection mattered that much to him.

That moment changed the week for one participant. On prayer walks they watched a teammate named Janine confidently approach strangers and offer to pray. Her example gave them the courage to try. Victor in the park. Hermon on an ATL walk. A woman from Ghana. By the end of the trip, they had shared their testimony for the first time.

Ministry doesn't always mean doing something impressive. Sometimes it's noticing the person in front of you and staying long enough to listen.

You don't have to travel across the world to step outside your comfort zone and share the love of Jesus.

For 53 years, she carried the anger. Toni had experienced abuse — and over the decades, much of that anger settled on the person she felt should have protected her: her mother. When she became a mom herself, the ache only grew. How could she have let it happen?

Then Toni went to New Mexico with Beauty for Ashes.

She came to serve women on the Navajo reservation. But as she sat in the retreat with her team, God gently reached a part of her own story that had stayed tender for more than half a century. For the first time, Toni was able to release the anger — and begin to see that chapter differently.

She said it simply: "What a gift to my life. And I want that for everyone."

That's the heart of Beauty for Ashes. We go so other women can know the hope and freedom of Jesus — and we go as women who need Him too. We don't come with everything figured out. We come to sit, listen, pray, and remind each other that the past doesn't get the final word.

This March, we'll return to New Mexico, partnering with Navajo Brethren in Christ to serve women in the local Navajo community.
