Today, our Fresno SHSS members came together to give back to our community through seva! Our members made hygiene kits and prepared quesadillas to support our unhoused community members, while also helping clean the Gurdwara.

We are so proud of our members for showing up, giving back, and putting the values of seva into action. Thank you to everyone who came out and contributed to making a difference in our community!

Fresno’s Induction + Social. Today, our SHSS members participated in inductions, where each student received their pin representing their year in the club! After inductions, we enjoyed a fun social filled with games, pizza, and lots of laughs! Thank you to everyone who came out and made today so special. BAY AREA we have an URGENT call to action for you.

TOMORROW, Tuesday, October 6th at 5:30pm, the New Haven Unified School Board is taking public comment on renaming a middle school in Union City. They’re voting to change the renaming rules mid-process and wipe out community surveys that were already done, all without us. This is our ONE and ONLY chance to get Jaswant Singh Khalra’s name back in the running.

Punjabis have a long and proud history in Union City, yet our community is still not represented in our schools. The board will only listen if WE show up and speak. Our voice matters, but only if we use it.

Please come, and bring your family, neighbors, and friends. Forward this to anyone you know in Union City. We can’t do this without YOU.

🚨BALLOTS ARE IN THE MAIL🚨

Keep an eye out in your mailbox over the next few weeks and make sure you ballot somewhere safe until you’re ready to fill it out.

Between 14 State Measures, Local Measures and Candidates, voters have a lot to think through this November. But we’ve got you covered for ballot measures (we never have and never will endorse candidates). To see the full county by county guide please visit: www.canva.link/jm-2026-ca-voter-guide

Additionally, we are asking the Sikh Sangat of California to vote NO on Proposition 39 and 43. Both propositions are bad faith attempts to take the power away from voters. We believe the power lies in the people and any attempt to limit that power is an attack on democracy. We will always stand with the Sangat🙏🏽

Please make sure to vote this November 3rd and every election after! The Sikh community has been a part of California’s rich tapestry since the late 1800’s and it’s our duty to make our voices heard. We pay taxes, send our children to public schools, drive on public roads and work in public hospitals. We should do our part in improving California for all!
