The Rite of the Crane is one of many beautiful sculptures you can find throughout Downtown Fresno. Dedicated by German-American sculptor Bruno Groth in 1964, this piece is one of several bird-related works he created. πŸͺΆ

The sculpture is especially relevant to Fresno, as cranes continue to find refuge in the Central Valley’s marshlands to this day. Sculptures like this are what breathe life into the streets of Downtown Fresno, adding character, history, and beauty to the city. πŸ–ŒοΈ

This art piece, Trisem, by T. Newton Russell was donated to the city of Fresno in 1966 and sits on Fulton Street between Fresno and Merced Streets. πŸͺ¨ The granite rocks used to create this 12-foot sculputre are native to San Joaquin Valley River and are held together by a hidden steel rod.

Russell started making sculptures in 1958 and is mostly self-taught, with works on display around Fresno. As a Stanford graduate, He also practiced law in town until his retirement in 1990.
