I'm going to be real with y'all. Running an older youth enrichment program sometimes feels like herding cats π and sometimes feels superhero-esque π¦ΈββοΈπ¦ΈββοΈ because we're changing the world one teenager at a time.
π£ Meet the 2026-2027 team:
This school year we're partnering with two amazing humans (Oscar & Alex) who care deeply about the community and have a passion for working with youth, so we can provide even more opportunities to the youth at Aspire through collaboration with Fremont Salvation Army. π
We've already introduced you to Kaley and Holly who stepped in to help us out. ππ We're so blessed to have them back at Aspire!
Brian Springer has been a familiar face at Aspire since the summer of 2023. He serves as our Facility Director coordinating the food and facilities for Aspire. We are very blessed to have a man who loves the Lord on our team to be a mentor to the young men we serve, and we will be tapping more into his expertise in culinary arts as we further develop our career readiness tracks. We're excited to see how God uses the gifts He's given Brian to influence Aspire's program and the youth we serve.
After we posted the introductions of Kaley and Holly one of the board members suggested that I share about me too. I'm going to be real real honest and tell you that I don't like talking about myself and I don't have great self-esteem anyways. So, what I can tell you is that we started forming Aspire for Greatness in February 2020 (the month before the world shut down). As we enter our 6th year of providing afterschool programming for older youth I am so in awe of what God has done through our mission to impact the next generation, and I am so grateful I have been able to be a part of it.
It is important to mention another person too. Although she does not work as staff during the school year this year or last, Amy Von Behren is a fundamental part of our ministry. She serves in the summer as a key staff member and last school year she was a substitute when Brian or myself couldn't be at Aspire. π
Are we actually superheroes? No.
Are we going to embrace our effort to work together to infuse hope in the next generation? Absolutely.
