Supporting survivors starts with knowing what resources are available and being willing to start the conversation 💜

The first steps toward building a future free of violence are learning the signs of domestic violence, knowing about resources like The Bridge, and practicing conversations that support survivors rather than unintentionally causing harm. When all of us are equipped with this knowledge, our community is better prepared to recognize when someone needs help and how to connect them with the right resources.

In 2025, 30 Nebraskans lost their lives to domestic violence. That is more intimate partner murder-suicides than in 2023 and 2024 combined.

The DADRT released its 2026 Report which provides a deeper understanding of the realities of abuse, key findings, and a warning about the impact of funding cuts. Funding cuts, inflation, and increased demand for services create difficult challenges for DV/SA crisis centers as they work to keep their doors open and continue supporting survivors.

In Northern Saunders County, the Yutan Fire and Rescue team are among the first faces survivors of domestic violence see when first responders arrive at the scene. Yutan EMS provides life-support ambulance services during an emergency and to continue providing high-quality care, their team met with our Community Education Coordinator on July 9 to incorporate more trauma-informed, survivor-led approaches in their work.
