Fredericksburg Rockhounds

Fredericksburg Rockhounds on the first Monday of each month at the Golden Hub Senior Center, 1009 N Lincoln, Fredericksburg, Texas (except in June, when we have our annual picnic).

In addition to informative and fun meetings with door prizes and guest speakers every month, we have—

Frequent field trips for rock hunting, museum visits, etc. Rock Swaps
Annual gem, mineral, & fossil show (in mid-January, indoors)
Annual Picnic (June)
Christmas Party (December, of course)
We hold our meetings at 7:00 P.M. Visitors are always welcome!

Coming off of a great event this weekend at Intergem, the club wants to remind you of our monthly parking lot Sale and Rock Swap:

WHAT: Monthly Parking Lot Sale and Rock Swap
WHEN: Saturday June 27, 2026 10am - 2pm
WHERE: 10205 Plano Rd Dallas, TX 75238

This event is open to the public to buy, sell and swap rocks to our members and general public! Bring a canopy and table or sell from the back of your truck or vehicle. Just remember we love rocks! Our Saturday shop hours will overlap this event so please ask a member for a tour and how to join the club!

Most geodes don’t look special at all… until you crack them open. 👀

Some of the most crystal-filled treasures on Earth start out looking like ordinary dusty rocks sitting on the ground. That’s part of what makes finding one so addictive for rockhounds.

The “lighter than expected” clue surprises a lot of people too — many geodes are hollow inside, which can make them feel oddly light for their size.
